Republicans suffer embarrassing defeat!
The republican sponsored vote to cut and run from Iraq IMMEDIATELY was soundly defeated by the democrats yesterday. The proposal was a cowardly and treasonous idea, taking Rep. John Murtha's (D-Pennsylvania) reasoned proposal to begin redeployment of US troops over a 6 month period and issuing their own for an immediate pullout without any consideration to the safety of American troops or the fragile future of the new Iraqi republic.

Please pass the word far and wide!

2. I think they are fighting for the future of their party in a very
negative, unreasonable and embarrassing way. The lack of integrity of the die hard neocons has just been witnessed by the world. They are sinking fast and they're pulling their own cover by doing and saying bizarre and unreasonable things.

3. Good reminder! K&N at this early hour...
We have two weeks to do damage control, because some of our own don't understand what happened.

4. Do you actually think the repugs were embarrassed
In their minds it was a victory. They made the democrats vote to support bush Iraq strategy.

Aljazeera thinks so

The president's comments on Iraq mark the latest round of increasingly hostile cross-fire between Bush and Democrats over the Iraq war.

5. Republicans set up a poison vote to get the Democrats on record
as to their position on the war.
I ask "Just who is politicizing this war?"

8. They Blew it!
They had a chance to bring the troops home but instead voted to have them continue dying for a lie.

9. ummm InsanityInc...
...actually this thing was never designed to "bring the troops home".
It was designed to paint Dems as a bunch of "cut and runners"
Funny thing though, the only folks mouthing the words "cut and run" are republicans, as you are well aware none of our Democratic Leadership is advocating such nonsense. Murtha made some fine points in his speech check them out lower down in this link:

I want to welcome you to DU InsanityInc. I have noticed a possible misspelling in your profile, :... like to piss of(f) republicans.
Members of the Free Republic sneak through here on occasion. I hear that they are poor spellers so you might want to fix that. As you will see there are a lot of fine educated minds here in the Democratic Underground, it has been an honor to learn from these folks. I look forward to learning from you as well InsanityInc, welcome aboard. :toast:

11. Guess you missed the swift boating of all Dems
If you had been watching your enemy, you would be aware that the Repugniks have TWO "Democrats Dishonest on Iraq" videos out.

http://www.gop.com/MultiMedia/VideoPlayer.aspx?ID=1033&TypeID=2

For 3 Minutes, they play the quotes for and against the war by the Democratic Elected officials.

This is consistant with the way they portrayed Kerry, as a flip flopper who couldn't make up his mind. The Repugniks seriously affected the way the population viewed Kerry, as evidenced by the way that Florida wasn't even close to what allowed Bush to steal the election in 2000.

I just found out that Limbaugh was on vacation this last week, and we still backed down from the Get the troops out NOW issue. We had one third of the fascist trifecta (Boortz, Limbaugh, Hannity) and we still lost the news cycle to the Repugniks, and are now ON RECORD voting to keep the war for imperialist oil rolling along full speed ahead.

Next week, or the week after, when the Dems start to return to Washington, and again raise the principal about "Bush Lied" what will we see? This vote will be used to silence and diminish the anti-war movement in Congress. We just watched a movement destroyed, and we think it's a good thing.
