We just have to hope that the public was able to discard Brokaw's early prejudicial framing of the debate? If they did, I don't see how anyone could not view his performance as the best of the night.

36. But does Brokaw have advanced glaucoma or Retinitis Pigmentosa?
I missed the first half hour. I counted that the others were asked 2 or 3 questions before Clark was asked one. Sometimes it went over that, but usually the ratio Clark:Others was 1:3.

Surely Tom Brokaw can't be attempting to manipulation the results -- so I fear he must be suffering from a disease of the eyes like glaucoma or retinitis, which would cause him to have tunnel vision, and be unable to see Clark, who was standing on the most extreme left. Thankfully, his right side is not as affected, as he was able to see Senator Edwards, who stood on the extreme right. Thank heavens the disease has not advanced that far!

I think General Clark, in being so tolerant of being almost ignored during this important debate, shows us just how big a man he is by not calling people's attention to Brokaw's physical infirmity and embarass him in public.

/sarcasm off

I'll try and watch the whole thing later on C-Span, but from what I saw, my man Wes was marginalized during this debate.

45. Count me in
I've been thinking about the whores vs Clark and I've come to the conclusion that it really goes beyond Dems vs reps. It really is about the the Military Industrial Politico Media Complex. Clark can really ruin their scam on America.

Two things brought me to this conclusion: One, was a little piece I wrote yesterday on DU which included a reference to "General Smith goes to Washington." The second influence on my thinking has been reading "Winning Modern Wars."

We are currently being robbed of much needed tax money to the tune of 52% of discretionary spending on the Pentagon. Clark has said on more than one occasion that the military "make want" budget is where the real waste is. They know he knows it. If he ever gets the bully pulpit he will make his case directly to the American people, and he has the communication skills to do it.

GE owns NBC...but lots of defense contractors both and advertise on all the majors. The same pork that could be paying for healthcare, education, infrastructure, jobs, R & D, and benefiting the real America, is currently paying Woodruff and company more than they ever deserve.

In short, the irony here is that only a General can take on the Pentagon, and every whore knows it. Vote with your head. This is your chance to do good, and you should.

Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 09:46 PM by Crewleader
but again the talking heads seem to avoid to mention his name. He answered his questions confidently along with Sharpton and Dennis, those three stood out.

Kerry with the same tone, and I hope he gives up the words that remind me of Bush...Bring It On.

Edwards was flat tonight and he needed to be more.

Lieberman takes up too much time repeating himself, he's in denial.

Tom tried to twist the first question but Clark corrected him and he's definitely right on the ball and he just looks so presidential.
I'm very pleased...and I bet Clark is too.

Unfortunately the Media is pushing Kerry for the wins in Iowa and one in his own backyard New Hampshire. I love what Clark said, if you want the same thing in Washington Politics vote for them or you want progress vote for me.
Yes we do General, we want a leader for the people! :-)

On edit before I forget...the question about Iraq and the vote...when Clark mentioned it was rumored a push for War right after 9/11 through the Pentagon and Washington. Which I must say that reflects poorly on Kerry and Edwards, yes indeed giving Bush the go with a blank check.

Dean mentioning the years of Kerry in Washington as a Senator about the kids in SC still going without healthcare...that was good to point out.

Clark really got a big applaud when he answered, keeping church and state separate...
and now on to the votes!:-)

Wes did great with the Separation of Church and State issue....held onto his principles; didn't let Brokow bait his with the "compromise" suggestion.....missed a lot of the rest while making/eating dinner......rats........

on edit...

ON MSGOP after the debate, Buchanan said Clark had some solid answers/lines (can't remember which one)....tweety ignored him as usual. Also, Buchanan's assessment of the debate was:

Kerry...was undamaged..nobody laid a glove on him
Dean...on the attack
Edwards...lackluster
Lieberman...didn't mention
Clark...strong

Winners of the debate? Get the defib ready...according to Buchanan
Kuchinich and Sharpton....

63. A Dean guy says great job by Wes. He has even gone farther than Dean has
on holding shrub accountable for 9/11. He has made this point consistently, and he presented it extremely well tonight. I do not understand how shrub gets a pass from most people for 9/11. Isn't he the CEO president? All he did was oversee the greatest mass slaughter of American civilians in history. He's responsible even if he tried his best to prevent it. But instead, he did not do one thing to protect the public despite many warnings that such an attack was imminent. How he has gotten away with this is beyond me, and I thank Wes Clark for having the guts to continue to speak out on this.

This was Clark's best debate. I think it has revived his candidacy, and he has a chance to win a couple of states on Tuesday. While he was fantastic on Iraq and national security tonight, he was only pretty good on domestic issues. I hope he's in this race for the long haul. We need his voice.

65. Loyal Clarkie in California
Who's organizing here? I live up North, but the key will be to turn Orange County and the inland valley areas. We need people there to advocate for Wes!

71. The Alternative is simply unacceptable! Keep the faith!

Craig checking in from Southwest Florida. Hope you folks enjoyed our guest Senator McGovern on the conference call last week.

With the momentum of this debate, we will chalk up some wins next Tuesday, and then it's onward and upward.

President Clark - Doesn't that sound nice?

72. Clark supporter from Louisiana checking in
General Clark did a stellar job in the debate tonight! After tonight I am more convinced than ever that Clark CAN get the nomination and go on to beat the snot out of Smirk in November! Come on Clark supporters... work hard and never give up! If ever there was a cause worth fighting for, this is it! Clark is the man to beat Smirk and get this country back on the right track! I'm with General Clark all the way.

GO WES GO!

The DuPage County (IL) Clarkies are present an accounted for. Though these three-times-per-day head counts are kind of annoying.
