TV Alert - Joe Trippi on MSNBC next with Deborah Norville...let's hear it.
I think Norville is part of the media machine so I'm guessing she might be anti-Dean.

But I want to hear and see Trippi.

13. Disgraceful and unprofessional
No matter what good things he did for Howard Dean, this on-air crying spell is utterly unprofessional and it won't win him many brownie points.

But they don't cry on the goddamned phone with a media whore who wants to do nothing but get ratings by exposing any emotional weakness she can. Nice try, but junior league.

67. Lot of truth in this post. Lay low and do what it takes to move the #'s.
I give Trippi 51% fault in the Dean scream and Dean 49%. A campaign manager's job is to control the moment. They were both dead tired but it's Trippi's job to handle the moment. He didn't. I believe Trippi should have stayed on as #1 and cooler heads were needed at that point. Obviously there were none.

I thought he displayed great love for and loyalty to Howard Dean. Whatever may have happened, and I still don't understand all of it, Trippi came across as genuine and caring and sincere. In this day and age, in this business, it's pretty remarkable.

Brownie points? Well, he probably wants to work as someone's campaign manager in the future. This won't help the resume. See other comments above to explain to those who apparently just don't get it why this was an inappropriate interview. As to you saying shame on me, whatthefuckever.

41. Agreed, he has a heart and that is rare. It is sad that he has the heart
and the soul and believed and still believes in Dean. IT says a lot that Dean really got someone like him on his side. It says a lot that a guy like Trippi still suppprts Dean even after the shake up and that he doesnt' have hard feelings and still supports Dean.

Trippi reminds me of myself. When I do something. I throw all of my heart and soul into it.

Wow!

30. I agree
It seems the Dean campaign keeps getting criticized for showing emotion. First Dean was too angry, now Trippi's too sad.

All that emotion comes from the fact that these are people who CARE about changing the country. With everything in their souls these men believe in change for the better, and the message I'm getting from this interview - the power of the individual, the heart and soul that people have put into making ordinary Americans feel empowered and positive - is precisely what makes me a Dean supporter.

If you gave a year of your life over to something you strongly believed in, were asked to accept a demotion, turned it down because you didn't want your presence to hurt the campaign you still believed in, you might be a little choked up, too.

46. When she said that
My middle finger made an involuntary gesture. She just couldn't stand it that she wasn't getting her dirt, wasn't getting Trippi to say something nasty about Howard, she just kept pushing every emotional button she could think of. But Trippi wouldn't give her the satisfaction. What a classy guy! After all, he's right, it shouldn't matter who the campaign manager is. it's about the candidate and the message.

However, they got their licks in when that Lisa woman trashed Dean after Trippi refused to.

Isn't the "journalist" Norville had on afterward the same one who was on all the programs during the Condit/Chandra Levy juggernaut? I think it was her moment in the sun, and she's back for more. She was very judgmental, ill-informed and unprofessional, always taking gratuitous stabs at Condit.
On the plus side, looks like she had a makeover of sorts and got her teeth bleached.
For whatever that's worth....

There are many aspects of the Dean campaign that I have never
liked, but Trippi was not one.

I really wish he had hooked up a candidate who was the best for

I do believe Dean's anti-war position and attacks on Kerry was opportunistic rather than genuine but I don't rest Dean lack of credibility at Trippi's feet.

52. I think this interview says a lot.
Trippi spoke what I felt. I feel the same way about Howard Dean. I feel the same way, and now I feel bad thinking the rumors that he might have gypped the Dean campaign for money were true. I still don't like the arrangement that was made, but I now know that Trippi wasn't out to make a quick buck.

I hope Trippi comes back and takes the position Dean offered him. We need Trippi and Trippi needs us -- the Dean Campaign is more than just a movement to take back the country, in many ways we feel as if we are connected to each other. That there is a bond between ourselves and the message and the idea that we can take our country back. Clearly Joe felt that connection and through hearing his voice I believe 100% that Joe is not guilty of the horrible charges that are being put forth against him.

56. Maybe Joe Trippi is simply exhausted
I don't think anyone can take anything away from this man. Judging from other interviews, it seems apparent Dean didn't want Trippi to leave.

To tell you the truth, I don't understand how Dean avoids suffering from exhaustion. Maybe the literal truth is another pair of lips is needed to give the campaign CPR. Maybe the relationship between Dean and Trippi will mend with a few good nights' sleep. Listening to his conversation from his car, it is apparent he would make an excellent spokesman for Dean, he really believes in him and what he stands for.

Probably there will be a Dean/Trippi reunion somewhere down the political track. Give it time.
