Some voters in DeLay's district don't want him back... but not all.
Last year he won re-election, and that was after the nasty redistricting stuff... which was clearly illegal and violated the voting rights act.
Now that he's been indicted, with evidence indicating that he's so guilty of breaking the law... which he'd already done... well... it's clear that Goopers only care if you get caught... not if you did wrong.

7. I don't believe for a minute. Delay will be re-elected. |
|
His district is full of RW pseudo-Christians. Unless there are new revelations (like the Ahbramoff scandal), Delay will win again. He's got the true believer followers and an endless supply of cash.

8. If DeLay loses in court |

he will not have a chance of being re-elected. There is already talk of replacing him as leader in the house.

9. What are the DeLay/Lampson matchup numbers? |
|
I don't trust GOP incumbent vs. generic Democrat polls. Bush was losing to a generic Democrat as early as 2003. But until you give that Democrat a name, a face, and a platform to run on, all the numbers reveal is how pissed off voters are with the incumbent.
Unless DeLay has a strong opponent, I see no reason to believe he won't be reelected. It looks like Nick Lampson will be his opponent.
How strong is Nick Lampson?
