I was Zogby polled for the AZ primary

I received a call from the Zogby people earlier tonight concerning my vote in the Arizona primary next week.

I was asked who I am voting for, and to rate all the candidates from "very unfavorable" to "very favorable".

The most interesting question was, "Are you a NASCAR fan?"

NASCAR is the soccer mom issue of the '04 race.

The two most important issues, of my choosing, rather than from a set list, are the economy and Iraq.

I still don't think Zogby polls measure up to Zomby polls. :-)

3. I went to a Winston Cup race in Vegas once

It was rained out in the middle. It was okay, but I have never been compelled to see another one. It is VERY different than on TV, I'll grant.

My grandfather, who was a brilliant mechanic (he patented a carburetor and built full race engines as a hobby) was a race car driver in the 50's, so I feel some affinity for the sport, and my Hot Wheels were my favorite childhood toy. But I don't think I will be a "NASCAR Dad" anytime soon. :-)

Personally, I can't figure out what's so interesting about cars going around and around and around in a circle all freakin' day.

But if Zogby called me up and asked me if I was a NASCAR fan I would "you bet your ass I am"! And then I would tell them which candidate I support and say that all my NASCAR buddies support him too!

There is much more to it than cars going around in circles though. It takes great stamina and skill to navigate 4 rapid turns and constant weaves when you are going 165mph.

He wasn't famous - just raced on a midwest sprint car circuit many decades ago, and was a mechanic by trade. I have no aptitude for mechanical things and drive a '92 Hyundai Elantra, lol. I inherited other qualities from him, like my sense of humor. :-)

But surely she must have been puzzled by a conversation in which I said one word answers and grunted in disapproval (when a candidate who shall remain nameless was mentioned) a time or two. "Very unfavorable!" :evilgrin:

The guy didn't ask if there were any other Dems in the house. Probably goes against poll rules or something - can't have TWO DK supporters under one roof huh? :eyes:
