Kerry or Dean in charge of Iraq intelligence probe - who would you trust? |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 11:32 PM by meisje
Since Kerry and Dean had very different views on the invasion of Iraq before March 2003. Who would you now trust to get to the truth, the Beltway insider or the Vermont outsider?

1. Well, since Dean is the one who seemed to reach the correct conclusion |
|
WITHOUT the benefit of being in Congress, I'd vote for Dean.
Kerry STILL defends his IWR vote...

4. Kerry seems to have a bit too much at stake, considering his IWR vote |
|
So, definitely Dean. I'd trust Dean much more with the interests of our country.

6. Kerry, Dean would not know what he was looking at |
|
Edwards would do as well given his seat in the intellegence deal.

13. Kerry had access............. |
|
to the same intelligence as Bush before the vote (or so it's been reported). Either he didn't know what he as looking at or simply didn't look at all. Each of those scenarios bothers me. Dean.

and if you or I had the same access we may very well come to the same conclusion. A third scenario that you fail to take into account.

But I would go with Dean, if that was the choice.

Kerry let Iran-Contra get buried on A-8 in the frigging New York Times. The frigging New York Times! You may assume I would trust an investigator appointed by Dean over Kerry himself. Kerry folds, he doesn't pursue the issue.

Iran/Contra was all over the news. I didn't read the NYTimes back in the 80's and I knew about it. This is just silliness.

It never got past Ollie North who ran naked around his neighborhood, waving a gun. It was covered well....to a point. It should have been pursued further, and it would have if it were pursued.
Edit...daughter just stepped on me and the kids have just gotten a puppy. Iran-Contra SHOULD have been pursued, and it would have been if Kerry were really dedicated to his job. Iran-contra was vile, and John Kerry could have done something about it. He didn't.

I am not one of his supporter's but I'm pretty sure I can't trust Kerry well maybe I can since he's running against GW but since neither one is very likely to be asked it's well a mute point isin't it.

23. Kerry. He's gotten to the bottom of some of the worst shit... |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 12:32 AM by mb7588a
...this govt has ever done. NO disrespect meant to Dean at all (one can argue he got it right about Iraq and one could argue b/c of Biden-Luger that he didn't - that's still undecided in my head). Kerry DEFINITELY gets the advantage here. He's got the experience and the know how. He even saw some of the intelligence in question. He knows what it means to bleed for a mistake. Investigating Iraq intel. is not a job for an outsider. Also from a practical standpoint, Dean wouldn't even be elligable - he's neither a lawyer or a Senator/Congressman nor an expert on intelligence gathering/interpreting/reporting.
But if I were given other choices I could make equally good arguments for one of the more uuuuuuuuuber-principaled guys who have backbone - Feingold (most backbone in American politics, ain't scared of nobody) or Kennedy (Nobody stands up against the man.) or Edwards (He is actually on the Intel. Committee and a brilliant lawyer).
