Does voting for the IWR take Iraq off the table in the GE?
When the general election comes around, will having a candidate who voted for the IWR take the issue off the table, or will it still be a big factor? I'm not saying that the GE will eventually have a candidate who voted for the IWR. The question is more directed towards finding out if we can reframe the major issues of the General Election to more Democrat friendly grounds of jobs, health care, the economy, etc.

2. I can only hope that people's minds will change over this. Soldiers
are still dying with alarming frequency. My 45 year old cousin (2 months shy of discharge) was just sent over there...I want her back alive! Let's make it a big issue then. Don't let Bush sweep this under the carpet. :hi:

I continue to try and keep this first and foremost in friends and family's minds. Hugs, Laura

7. no, I don't
Tenet maybe gets fired, prior democrat administrations get blamed for whacking the intel money (which Kerry voted for if you're interested in a little prognostication).

They're about to make nice with France and Germany by stuffing the gathering storm of Hussein bribary linked to them.

Oh, and that Hussein guy was just a terible person.

Maybe they even chop off his head in August.

We need to talk about jobs, economy, widening gap between the haves and the have nots. The war will only sink us.

6. Disagree. 530+ American kids dead
as of now. Ten months from now...we're looking at thousands of kids dead. The importance of this issue is not going to go away.

5. How can being lied into an illegal invasion NOT be an issue?
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 12:11 AM by nu_duer
The unneeded, unnecessary deaths and maiming, and damage, physical and to our world standing, our moral standing, our arrogantly eroded alliances, the drain on our economy, the increased danger to the US from terrorists, the increased chaos in the ME...for starters, all as the truth of the fraudulent invasion begins to come to light, - how can this not be an issue.

No, a pro-invasion candidate doesn't take the issue off the table, that's wishful thinking. In fact, it does two things. It demoralizes, and unmotivates the growing number of Americans/Democrats who see this bloody fraud for what it was/is, as well as gives the bush/rove machine an opportunity to HIGHLIGHT the AGREEMENT of our guy with bush. And we would deserve the resulting defeat, having tried to be a different kind of bush.

9. Anyone who voted for IWR has undermined their ability to correctly
accuse the murderous Bush regime with dragging us into war
based on lies.

That's a big big big issue to have undermined.

13. True
But do we have a better chance of convincing pro-war voters that we were lied to and the war was unjustified, or convincing them that the war was good but it has been mishandled along with the economy?

11. For Edwards?
There are still troops over there and the bush adminisration's "hugs and flowers" after the war was won plan was not a good one. He'll still be able to argue that...maybe the point about bush's doing it on a timetable and undermining the inspectors and or allies too.
