Would you consider switching to the Republican Party
“Would you consider switching to the Republican Party if we gave you a thousand dollars right now and promised you free porn for life, or are you still a hardcore, baby-eating Democrat?”

Would switch faster than a gecko on a hotplate: 89%
Throw in chocolate chip cookies, and it’s a deal: 1%
I’m hardcore Dem, and eat babies: 0.3%
I’m Australian and feed babies to crocodiles, so can’t answer: 0.5%

Sorry thought this poll was funny.

1. Why not? I live in Seattle.
I live in Seattle, which is ruled by the King County Democrats, which are awfully hard to distinguish from Republicans.

So earning a thousand dollars for effectively doing nothing doesn't sound like such a bad deal!

On the other hand, I don't really belong to the Democratic Party as it is; I belong to no party. But $1,000 might buy my membership, if not my allegiance!

2. I'll switch...
just before I die, because I'd rather see a Republican die than a Democrat.

3. I'll take the $1000 bucks
because I'm in Utah so my vote doesn't count anyway.
Damn Electoral College.

7. Absolutely, I mean we are only one election away from only having 1 party
anyway.

8. OK, if we had
Zell Miller running against John McCain. You can even keep the porn, but I'll take the money and the cookies (since I'll no longer be able to eat babies).

9. I'd switch in a heartbeat if the GOP was the populist party
no problem. Of course, that's not likely to happen anything this century.

10. I Would Switch Under One Condition
If it was a mass infusion of moderate voters. I'd do it to help my mod Republican friends get the RW CC influence out of their party.

11. Not for a mere $1000
That wouldn't buy half a plate at a Bush fund-raising dinner.

Naw, if I'm going to be a Republican I would have to have an obscene amount of money to "fit-in" because I couldn't hang with the fundamentalist Christian bunch.

12. But I PAY to be a Democrat!
Why would I risk my immortal soul for your devil's bargain? It's not about price, I assure you.

This is a good excuse to pull out the old anecdote told of Winston Churchill (...or George Bernard Shaw or Oscar Wilde--anyone have a reliable source?) about hitting on some duchess at a party:

He looked at her and asked: "Madam, would you sleep with me for, say, a million pounds?"

She paused and responded: "Well, Sir Winston, I believe I would."

"How about for ten pounds?"

The aristocratic lady was horrified.

"Sir Winston!" she gasped. "What kind of woman do you think I am?"

To which, Churchill smiled and replied: "Madam, we have already settled that question. Now all we're doing is haggling over price!"
