Ben Chandler in special election KY 6th!!
The battle to tack back this country starts now!!!

A specail election to replace the repug who won the Gov. race will take place this Feb. 17th!

The Dem challenger is leading in the polls. It would be a major signal to the thug in chief if we took this seat.....

Send Chandler some cash so we can get another Dem in Congress and launch another story about Dem success!!!!

It doesn't have to be much, but if a few thousand of us kick in 10-20 bucks, that could be all the difference!!!

go here to donate:

I know many of us differ on our choice at the top of the ticket, but here is a chance for us to agree on a Dem beating a repug!!!!

1. We need as many Democrats in Congress as we can get.
Especially for this seat.O8) It has been in Republican hands, so we would gain a seat and they would lose one.

2. I live here in the KY 6th.
I haven't seen any polls, but it'd be nice to pick this seat up.

Chandler's opponent is an asshole named Alice Forgy Kerr. She's been in the KY senate for like a year or two only, I think. And she's been buying loads of ads. So much, in fact, that you can see nearly 10 Kerr ads in an hour. And if you could see them you'd laugh your head off:

"Hi, I'm Alice Forgy Kerr. George Bush and I are cut from the same cloth. I'm a conservative who wants to make the Bush tax cuts pemanent." et cetera.

I saw one of the Chandler-Fletcher debates in person, and to tell you the truth, Chandler was just the lesser of two evils in the Governor's race. They agreed on almost everything. Most of the time they just squabbled over negative ads. Chandler did some good work as KY's Attorney General, but he has a lot of problems.

Regardless, he'd be a good one to get in Congress.

3. I live in KY 4th.
I agree with you. I've seen those ads too, and now change the channel whenever they come on. Did you see this Joel Pett Cartoon about it.

4. same day as the vital Wi primary
and I understand he is leading in the polls. If we win this seat and the special election for Janklow's seat in SD--we will already have a net gain of two seats, as I think we would hold them again in the fall regular elections.

8. Update on this race on Daily Kos

Ben Chandler is trying to wrest a House seat from the GOP in Kentucky's Feb 17 special election. As I noted a couple of days ago, the polls look good for Chandler as he enters the campaign's stretch run.

The Chandler campaign has started advertising via BlogAds on a whole slew of progressive blogs. And in less than a day (about 10 hours, actually) online donations had already covered the cost of the ad buy. Pretty impressive testament to the power of cheap blog advertising.

10. C'mon people we need to take this seat...
I remember in '92 when Bush 1 was riding high, one of the signs of his downfall was a special senate election in PA (oddly enuf to fill the seal opened by the death of GOP sen Heinz). Bush's att general Dick Thornburgh was literally 40 points ahead of Dem nominee Harris Wofford. Wofford came back and won the seat and nothing went right for old poppy after that.
