Kerry to RNC: Bring It On

At a Republican pep rally yesterday, Ed Gillespie, the RNC's cheerleader in chief attacked John Kerry on national defense. George Bush and his cronies aren't wasting any time trying to confuse the American people about John Kerry's record. They've already said they want this campaign to be about national security, and they're afraid that John Kerry is going to blow them out of the water.

Here's a statement from Senior Advisor Michael Meehan on the RNC’s attacks oon John Kerry, plus a Fact Check on Gillespie's misleading charges.

“John Kerry looks forward to a very vigorous debate with President Bush on the many failings of the Bush Administration from national defense to failed health care policy and more. John Kerry welcomes this discussion and looks forward to this debate. We await this debate and we look forward to it—Bring it on."
Fact Check on the RNC & Ed Gillespie’s Rhetoric

Why Has the RNC All of a Sudden Begun Putting Out False Negative Attacks on John Kerry? Maybe the Truth is in the Numbers…

John Kerry – 49%
George Bush – 46%

This afternoon, Republican National Committee Chairman, Ed Gillespie, in a blatant attempt to involve himself in the Democratic Primary unleashed a false negative attack on John Kerry’s record on National Security. Below is a summary of Gillespie’s rhetoric along with the real record that the Republican lobbyist-turned-attack-dog, Gillespie selfishly left out:

6. Boy you're not kidding. It was bad enough to hear it from
Republicans all the time--now we hear it ad infinitum from Kerry and his supporters.

2. I'm already tired of "Bring It On"
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 01:11 PM by girl gone mad
Why doesn't he just shorten it to "Bring It" and add a snap? That might win him some youth vote.

MAybe if he were a wrestler it would work for him, but he's a waife, and it doesn't fit.

14. LOL I agree...
I saw him say "Bring it on" again last night and cringed. A new phrase is definitely in order.

7. Bring it on!
Unlike Bush*, who invited terrorists to attack someone else (the troops), when Kerry says "Bring it on!", he's challenging the GOP terrorists to try and attack *him*

Thanks for the info, sandnsea. I'd sure look forward to Kerry debating Bush on the many failings of the Bush Administration.

9. I appreciate the effort of a candidate
putting the challenge of a Debate to the rnc and bush. The last thing bush wants is a debate. gillespie, like other gop spokesghouls, limbaugh, hannity, et al do not want their candidate exposed in a public forum. bush, unlike the right wing hate machine would be unable to hide behind a microphone if he were in a live televised debate.

I'm not smart enough to come up with anything to substitute for "Bring it on" however that is what I would tell ed gillespie when referring to bush's military record. This veteran will do all he can to send bush to crawford (or Leavenworth.)

13. very humorous
To use the GOP motto back at them.

He could change it to "Bush, does the RNC wipe your a$$ too?" in reference to the fact that Bush isn't getting involved but he sends all his henchmen to bash the candidates.

We need a poll on how many debates Bush agrees to (I'm guessing 2 with controlled questions and 1 hour in length).

Arnie did it in California and he won. . .why not bush.

11. Kerry's 1st 100 Days
I'd like to see Kerry and Clark team up as President and VP (or visa versa).

Here's John Kerry's plan for what he would do in the first 100 days of being president:

12. Alternative slogan suggestion
Consider instead waving a fist and saying "I'm really, really not afraid of you! And I actually think I'm going to win too!" But, here's the really important part: do this while trying to look convincing.

15. You may not be convinced
but the voters in Iowa and New Hampshire certainly were. Time will tell how well Kerry's message resonates in the other states.
