I'm getting the "treatment" from the Dean people
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 01:24 PM by Jersey Devil
I have always favored Dean as the nominee though I am definitely ABB and will fully support whoever is the nominee. But these folks are getting on my nerves.

Since yesterday I have received NINE(9) emails asking me for more money from NJ Gov Jim McGreevy, one of the Gov's representatives, the Dean campaign, njfordean.org, Rep Bill Pascrell and others, all telling me to stand by Dean and then asking for money, sometimes subtly and sometimes not so subtly. I just gave them some money on the Friday just before Iowa.

One of the comments I read about why Dean did poorly in Iowa was that his "Perfect Storm" just overwhelmed the Iowans who were pushed and pushed and pushed by the Dean people at every turn until they got sick of them. One story I read was about how one voter got a call on the phone, hung up, had a knock of the door 5 minutes later and then another phone call 10 minutes after that by the Dean campaign.

Well now I understand exactly just what the Iowans were talking about. I mean, I still support the guy, but I am on the verge of blocking his email if they don't knock it off.

1. There is a way you can take yourself off of their e-mail lists.
go to their website and there should be a link to remove you from their lists.

5. I am kinda hoping it will stop on its own
I like getting updates from them about what Dean is doing, where he is going and what he is saying.

But they have to start using their heads about it. If others are experiencing the same thing I am, virtual spamming, a lot of Dean supporters are gonna get turned off.

15. That's not the point
The point is that Dean's campaign is trying so hard to help him that they are making total pains in the ass out of themselves.

2. Funny I only received one email yesterday, where do I lodge a complaint.
I get every email from the Dean campaign. Can you please include the *dated* text of those I missed.

I am thinking they are an example of the push polling done in Iowa and NH. In other words, they're not legit.

9. They are coming from NJ democrats for Dean
Rep. Bill Pascrell of Paterson, Gov McGreevy, and some other NJ democrats. I actually only got one from the Dean campaign itself, a letter from Howard Dean.

However, my point is that these "supporters" are running amok and alienating their own supporters. It shows a lack of organization in my opinion.

14. Yes I believe in his message, but his campaign is screwing up
that message by harrassing the very people who are supporting him. I am worried that other Dean supporters are just as annoyed about it as I am.

13. I made one contribution to Edwards
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 01:32 PM by Ramsey
And I only made it because I held a little contest here on the forum and the Edwards supporters made the most compelling case for their guy, so I sent him some money in their honor. Granted the campaign doesn't know any of that. But I've gotten about 5 emails a day from the Edwards campaign since.

I am not planning on giving Edwards any more money unless Dean withdraws, then I might. In the meantime I'll be deleting them. Just part of the process.

Why don't you email them back and ask them not to send you anymore. I have had personal responses to almost every email I've ever sent the Dean camp.

Edit: typo

16. Do what I do
Never read your e-mail.

But I agree, they have to come up with a new approach, rather than bombardment. This is a really mis-guided approach--people react negatively to pushy salespeople. It is almost as if they had too much money to spend on bad ideas. The strategy backfired--and it would probably have been an advantage to have less money than to create such overkill.

20. good idea
I have to laugh at the Dean people here who are telling me to unsubscribe, which is probably what I will do. Rather than face up to the fact that those techniques are alienating Dean supporters like me they want me to cut off communication from the Dean campaign.

No wonder he is losing. You can't just will your way to victory. You have to be smart about it.

19. Unsubscribe from the list for a few days.
I've only received 1 request in the last few days and I gave again recently. Guess those Californians for Dean aren't as annoying as njfordean.org. Just bad campaign management here on the west coast, I suppose.

NOW-balance of power is shifting throughout the State. Expect One maybe Two Primary Challengers to McGreevey in 2005!

25. Oh, for Pete's sake! That sounds like a Bush tactic.
If we disagree with you we will destroy you.

Or as Karl Rove said about one congressman(?) who didn't vote their way: "We'll f**k him, we'll f**k him like he's never been f**ked before."

If they turn on a Democratic governor for making an endorsement, then they're setting things up for the Republicans.

If you are going to insinuate something then be clear about it.

I have supported Dean all along and still support him. So why shouldn't I be upset that his campaign seems to be in the toilet due to overzealous idiots running it?

26. One kid who supported Kucinich out here was roughed up by one
of the more enthusiatic Dean supporters. Some Kucinich supporters out here were threatened by Dean supporters. This is not meant to be inflamatory but rather examples of how members of the Dean campaign turned people off. I can't imagine that Dean would have told his people to do this sort of thing and so they were probably just acting on their own.

38. I used to get twenty asking me to expand my penis
I don't even have one. But by all means let's get all upset over a few e-mails asking for support for a candidate you are in favor of. I can see how annoying that must be.
In the meantime I get mail from Clark, Kerry, Kucinich and Edwards. My delete button works just fine when I don't want to read it.

36. Odd. I signed up with one email address, contributed under another
actively conversed with the Dean campaign with both and I still don't get many emails from the Dean campaign. Just a notification if Dean is going to be near me and regular campaign emails. Yes, I get them twice, once to each address, but other than that. No big deal.

I say if something annoys you, take steps to prevent it from annoying you.
