Clark to meet with Indians in Tulsa today

Presidential candidate Wesley K. Clark will be meeting with Native Americans and other Tulsan today at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion Church, 419 N. Elgin.

Songs are due to be sung on Clark's behalf and there will be dancers at the event. Clark has picked up the endorsement of Wilma Mankiller's husband Charlie Soap. Also the Abenaki Tribe in Vermont has also endorsed Clark. Hopi groups have come out for Clark in the last week. Brian Washoe chairman of the Washoe Tribe of Indians in Nevada has also endorsed Clark. Most cite his respect for treaties and military background. The Native American Times was the first newspaper to endorse Clark.

Native Americans are invited to the historic African American church. Clark is being endorsed by Congressman Bobby Rush and Black U.S. Representative from Texas a long with other north Tulsa leaders. Clark will also be feted by Hispanics.

My mom's mom was a Native American....Cherokee tribe from Oklahoma. I was born in McAlister, OK. Both of my parents were born and raised in OK. We moved to Illinois when I was 1 year old.......a looooooong time ago. ;)

"The Native American Times was the first newspaper to endorse Clark. Congressman Dale Kildee the chairman of the Native American Caucus has also endorsed Clark.

"Native Americans are expected to vote in large numbers throughout Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona and North Dakota. All of these states have multiple reservations on it and large numbers of Indians living within their borders. Tex Hall the President of the National Congress of American Indians recently promised to deliver 1 million Indian voters to the polls."
