Aide to state Sen. Jeff Miller to testify before federal grand jury in bribery case

By BONNA de la CRUZ
Staff writer

A former aide to state Sen. Jeff Miller said he talked to federal prosecutors this morning about the senator’s dealings with a fake company set up as part of Operation Tennessee Waltz and said he is scheduled to testify before a federal grand jury this afternoon.

Waller Henry, 43, a former research analyst for Miller, said he knows nothing about $1,000 in cash that Miller received from lobbyist Charles Love, nor did he witness Miller doing anything illegal.

Love has since pleaded guilty to offering bribes to other lawmakers in Tennessee Waltz. Henry said Love called Miller’s office several times in2004 to ask Miller to sponsor legislation that would benefit E-Cycle, a computer recycling business. E-Cycle, it turned out, was a fake company set up by the FBI as part of the Tennessee Waltz sting.

Other current and former staffers for Miller, who is from Cleveland and is chairman of the Senate Republican Caucus, were also at the federal courthouse this morning, Henry said. They included Kurt Hippel, who was Miller’s legislative intern this year; Debbie Martin, a former secretary; and Jessa Fahey, who currently works in Miller’s office and is his girlfriend.

1. Yep
I still remember a good couple months back reading at the chattanoogan.com about him and his wife. He just passed some "marriage amendment act" where he was a co-sponser or something like that. The day it passed he was getting a divorce cause of his girlfriend. His wife was quoted saying that it wasn't gay people ruining marriage but divorce and adultery. I didn't know he was the GOP chair guy for the state. This guy is making lots of news lately.

2. Yes, he's in the news a lot lately
His neverending story has all the makings of a very long and sordid barroom ballad...
