Maybe There Will Be Some Judicial Vacancies When The Good Guys...
There might be some federal judicial vacancies when the Good Guys oust the Banana Republicans, and more than we hope for. Has anyone else read the AP reports and the New York Times articles saying that Chief Justice Roberts is asking Congress for a pay raise, just like his predecessor William Rehnquist did a short time ago? Has anyone thought of the implications?

Rehnquist warned that if Congress didn't provide a pay raise, a lot of federal judges would start resigning their posts either because of financial hardship or simply because they could make more money back in the private sector as lawyers or lobbyists.

As I recall, the right-wing Republican controlled Congress spurned Rehnquist's request. I don't know if the right-winger's excuse was fiscal or whether the right-wingers wanted to use the opportunity to punish "liberal" "activist" judges. Right-wingers might be arrogant enough to do the same thing yet again.

What we might start seeing before too long is a growing trickle of Reagan-era, Daddy Bush-era, and even Buckaroo Bush-era federal judicial appointees dropping their gavels, hanging up their robes, and leaving the bench.

Something pleasant to contemplate if Progressives can get their act together and take back Congress as well as the White House.

Sorry, no link. I still read newsprint newspapers off-line.
