Just finished watching ... |

... the "Passionate Eye", a TV-news show here (Toronto, Canada), about the total fuck-ups that happened before, during and after Katrina.
They actually interviewed Mikey 'Heck of a Job' Brown -- and when it comes to buck-passing, this guy is a real pro. Asked about his comment about not knowing there were people in the Convention Centre until days after it was all over the MSM, he said he'd 'mis-spoke' in THAT interview, and actually knew about it earlier. Confronted with clips of THREE interviews in which he said the same thing, he corrected himself - he'd actually 'mis-spoken' three different times.
It's great to live in a country where there is still such a thing as investigative journalism -- there was a time when that could be said about my home country, the USA -- but sadly, those days are gone.

They also interviewed Ridge (former Homeland Sec), and a number of other Feds - the buck-passing was incredible. According to each and every one of them, it was 'the other guy' who messed up. They also interviewed Mayor Neygin (sp?) and Richard Clarke (sigh, my hero!)
The "Passionate Eye" is a favourite show for my husband (also an American) and I - they don't pull any punches, and we've seen some scathing shows on Cheney/Halliburton, the connections between the Bush Family and Saud family, etc.
When I first moved to Canada (30 years ago), Canadian news shows were the 'also rans' of investigative reporting. Now they're the ONLY investigative news outlets we have access to, and they do a GREAT job.
I could go on for hours (but I won't) about the news coverage we've watched on US TV, only to switch over to Canadian news to get the REAL story.
That's why Americans living in Canada always refer to Canadian news coverage as 'the REAL news'.

5. You guys are so lucky to still have a news media. |
|
At least in your adopted country. I'm going to have to figure out a way to get out of here. :(

7. I agree that Canadian News is real news |
|
I know because I am Canadian (by choice, born in NJ American), living in Canada. It is so amazing the difference in the quality of the news reporting between American and Canadian. I prefer to get my TV news from Canadian stations, any of them. I do watch CNN but lately find that it is becoming a little FOX like. What has happed to Paula Zahn. She seems to have gone the route of the supermarket checkout gossip papers. I laughed so hard when my cable company asked me if I wanted to pay for FOX NEWS. Pay for lies? not in my lifetime.

2. The Media let us down 100% on the invasion of Iraq |

They were bullied by Faux news and the histrionics against anyone who dared say W had no clothes.
As I read a few weeks ago, the Dixie Chicks were right. The Bushbots will go to their deaths defending the emperor who had no clothes. Sorry lot.

3. Good to see ABC rebroadcast the * clip saying "Brownie, |
|
you're doing a heck of a job," on the Sun AM news show today.
Actually CBS and NBC's Sun AM news shows also kept up the pressure and reporting over New Orleans, as I think they should.
