Hillary salivating over Bush's new powers?
I believe Hillary Clinton to be a power-mad individual. If she should be elected President in 2008, I fear that she would not begin deconstructing the grotesque abuse-of-power infrastructure that the Bush administration has put into place. My suspicion is that she would preserve and use the powers which Bush has shifted to the executive branch, bringing them down hard on those who oppose her and her agenda.

you're the one hurling the accusations. I happen to think that Hillary is no more power mad then any other politican and if she ever does get elected president that she would do a great job, just she has for the people of NY. Maybe you just have a problem with powerful and intelligent women?

is not the same as attacking someone.

If you would like to discuss specific issues or policies that Hillary supports or specific things that she has done then I would be glad to have a debate with you but name call and making outrageous claims isn't going to cut it.

29. Where is the proof that he is helping anything? If Hillary were President
and she was screwing up as badly as Bush, I would want her *powers* lessened also. Just *believing* a person is doing the correct thing is not enough, it needs to be backed up with actions. I'm not a knee-jerk Hillary supporter, I just think that given the same *powers* she would use them differently. If she turned out like Bush, I would be calling for her impeachment also.

36. If true that only makes her a typical politician
The hatred of her seems quite unique and doesn't seem to extend to any other politicians. America may not be ready for a woman leader unlike Europe - in general they seem to generate much more hatred than male politicians who do similar things and they are more likely to be labeled as power hungry.

30. Hillary Clinton is too divisive
We need someone we can all get behind. That person is John Kerry. We were all behind Kerry last election because he was the best candidate for the country. He should have been elected and he almost was. John Kerry is still the best candidate for the country. He has not changed.

A lot of Republicans now realize what a mistake they made voting Bush for 4 more years. Kerry got off on the wrong foot trying to make the Vietnam war an issue and that turned a lot of people off.

If Kerry will stick to the real issues, and I am sure he will this time, he is unbeatable. No one has a handle on the current issues like he does.

33. Your Word "Hate" Is A Bit Strong... However I Find Her To Be
more a "chameleon" and this distresses me far too much to support her! Where once I was almost always in her corner, since she's been elected to the Senate I've begun to feel she ISN'T the person I thought she was!

Furthermore, I myself am getting EXTREMELY sick and tired of the fact that she's being pushed forward as the front-runner for the Democrats in 2008, CONSTANTLY! I'm very afraid that I don't know what I will do if she becomes the nominee in 2008! I seriously hope this won't come to fruition!

I watched Tim Russert late last night and Safire and the other guests seemed to feel that SHE WAS going to be the nominee and McCain would be the person she had to beat! While saying he thought she COULD win, he also said that Democrats seem to WANT to lose the Presidency ALL THE TIME! That in and of itself is nothing more than a "contradiction" standing alone! Personally I think the Repukes WANT Hillary more than the Democrats here at DU! It's a bit too much for me, and I fervently HOPE that she WON'T be the nominee!!

 :nopity:

Asking why people hate Hillary if they criticize her, is like asking "why do you hate America" when people criticize the Bush administration.

56. The OP states belief and fear; neither name calling nor emotional attack
Unless you think "power-mad individual" and "grotesque abuse-of-power" is name calling.

There's emotion there alright: it's fear.

Suppose someone would say that of Bush - does that mean the person says it just because he/she hates Bush?

Also it's not that uncommon for people to become somewhat emotional regarding *'s abuse of power - why should one not be allowed to become somewhat emotional at the perceived possibility of someone else's abuse of power?

the repugs will be laughing in fromt of us ! The Clintons reguardless if you agree with them on every issuse or not ,are part of our party and Mrs Clinton ,is indeed ,way better then what we currently have in the White House . It puzzles me how the repugs hold their former Presidents (Regan) up on as high of a pedistal they can find while we try to tear ours apart. I believe with her husband whispering in her ear ,and her own general wish to do whats good for the average American ,that its a shame so many of her own party despise her ,when she is a great role modle for our young women ,for that mater all of our young. I also believe she would guard the lives of our fighting men and women, and always make having them put their young lives on the line the absolute last resort! Iam not sure that she would be the best choice for 2008 ,however ,if she was to be picked I would support her 100%

16. I couldn't disagree more with you. It's quite the opposite.
I don't think Senator Clinton has changed. She's still the same person that tried to implement single-payer health care for all of us, so no one would lack health care in this country. What probably upsets you is the way she seems to be kowtowing to the conservatives by making moderate statements and stating moderate views. I think this is happening to all Democrats, as they try to "please" some of the conservatives into voting for them.

However, I think that once in office, she'd kick ass. STILL, when I hear her new moderate voice it makes me crazy, and at times I doubt everything I've said above.
