Can someone interpret Bolton's double speak re:this article?
Bolton Plans to Restart Stalled Efforts to Restructure U.N.
UNITED NATIONS -- John R. Bolton, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said he will start the new year by reinvigorating stalled efforts to restructure management of the world body, beginning with a controversial push to seek assurances that the Security Council's five major powers will be guaranteed posts on a new Human Rights Council.

Is this related to the torture allegations?

1. Nothing good will come out of Bolton's meddling.
Be assured of that.

2. Nothing more the next phase of his campaign to neuter the UN

or destroy it as a viable organization, IMO.

The snub probably was related our miserable record, but this was before we had done our thing with detainees, rendition, etc-I think it was due to the death penalty.

But they are feeling slighted by the Human Rights Commission and they are all upset about it. We certainly don't merit a seat on it, but that doesn't matter-dissing the US? Totally intolerable...

3. "the five major powers" (France, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US)
that control the Security Council

will also control the Human Rights Council

if Bolton (the US) has his (its) way.

It isn't exactly democratic, it's another step towards the New World Order.

4. New Year, New "Management"
Bolton's going to get the U.N. uder new management, to continue the policy of world domination and complete control of every drop of oil thatcan be wrung out of it, to "protect our way of life"....
gluttony.
