Senior Kerry Adviser/Lobbyist Michael Whouley admitted to 'dirty tricks'
In 2000 was CHIEF political strategist for the DNC.

Partner at Lobbying firm Dewey Square

Adviser to Lobbying firm Westin Reinhart

Lobbied for NAFTA

"Today Whouley is married to former state representative Sally Kerans of Danvers and is a political consultant with Boston's Dewey Square Group. He had been reluctant to take a leave until next summer, when he hoped the Democratic National Convention would have crowned Kerry its nominee. He decided to step in earlier in an advisory capacity after the senator fell to third place in Iowa and, more importantly, behind Howard Dean of Vermont in New Hampshire. "

-------

HUME: A top strategist for Al Gore’s 2000 president campaign says the Gore camp deliberately caused a traffic jam on a major artery in southern New Hampshire on primary day that year to keep Bill Bradley voters away from the polls. The disclosure came from Gore strategist Michael Whouley , who said the Gore team had seen exit polls indicating a large number of independents, many who live in the up scale suburbs, were turning out to vote for Bradley.

So, they organized a caravan to clog traffic on Interstate 23 late in the day to keep potential Bradley voters away from voting places. The disclosure was made at a Harvard symposium and picked up first by the “Boston Phoenix.”

8. It's pretty well documented - Here's more
Whouley actually 'joked' about considering overturning a big-rig.

"As I digested all this, my phone rang. It was Michael Whouley. Not surprisingly, he was angry. He wanted an on-the-record denial of the caravan-traffic-jam story from him published in the Phoenix . And he wanted to emphasize that he had never talked about organizing a caravan to create a traffic jam during his Kennedy School talk and that his mention of "overturning an 18-wheeler" was a joke. Here’s the word-for-word transcript of what Whouley said at the Kennedy School: "There was actually a rumor that we would try to turn over an 18-wheel truck on I-93 so the liberal-minded, independent voters in New Hampshire who worked the 128 corridor wouldn’t be able to get back to vote < laughter >. If we could guarantee that no one would have been hurt, that would have happened < laughter >." (Whouley, a founder of the influential Dewey Square Group public-affairs-consulting firm, is an extremely busy man. Which is probably why he never answered any of the numerous calls for comment I made to both his office phone and cell phone while reporting the story. Of course, if he had called me back, his on-the-record denial and emphasis on the humorous nature of the 18-wheeler comment would have appeared in the article.) '

9. For once, Faux may have got one right...
'As late as 3 p.m. that day, Gore operatives had access to exit polls showing the vice-president being defeated by Bradley. They also learned that while Democratic voters were voting in large numbers for Gore, independents, many of them upscale suburban voters, were voting for Bradley’s sophisticated brand of liberalism. Knowing that Bradley’s strength came from tony tech havens such as Bedford, the Gore team organized a caravan to clog highway I-93 with traffic so as to discourage potential Bradley voters from getting to the polls. (Michael Whouley, a chief Gore strategist, recounted the Gore team’s Election Day field efforts at a Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics symposium, and his comments are included in a book compiled by the Institute titled Campaign for President: The Managers Look at 2000. He knocked down the rumor that they considered overturning an 18-wheeler to clog up traffic.) The caravan — spoken of with awe by operatives who worked on the campaign — had the desired effect. It was harder for Bradley voters to get the polls.'

I'm just glad the other campaigns are all stacked with integrity. Praise the Lord for Chris Lehane and Joe Trippi!

12. Please help me...
When you have a moment, could you please highlight a negative attack by the Clark campaign or the candidate, himself?

I've been noticing that Clark (and Edwards, too) are the only candidates running the type of campaigns we've all been asking for. Positive campaigning.
