Does anyone have any info on the 2 anti-war candidates
who are challenging Hillary Clinton this year? Yes, I know neither has a snowball's chance in hell, but I'd like to get my feet wet and volunteer for one of them. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.

1. No...they don't exist...they are persona non grata
Anyone who supports either is a...well, I'd better leave it at that.

4. It wasn't sarcasm. Maybe just channeling Joe Stalin.
Now with photoshop and all it is so much easier to erase memories, too.

8. Google should give you the two names that you want
Why try and promote them?

14. Why are you so nasty?
Unbeliveable. How can I promote people I know nothing about? I'm here asking for information so as to make informed decisions. Are you a NYer? Do you know how HC has shifted all of her attention to upstate issues and is silent on many things important to liberal, NYCers? What's wrong with a Democratic challenger in the primary who forces her to clarify some purposefully muddy stances?

Seems like you are incapable of even a modicum of open-mindedness. Why? Isn't DU a forum to get info and exchange ideas, not preemptively shut them down with no good reason?

16. My friend was shut down...and I don't know why
And Hillary has to shift all of her attention to Upstate issues because she can't get re-elected with just the votes of NYC, she needs some Upstate votes as well. This is what she did in 2000 as well.

I'm sorry that I made comments toward you that were less than well-mannered. Please accept my sincere apology for that.

I think that I should leave DU for a while.

3. well, that's very helpful.
:eyes:

unfortunately, I don't know the answer, either, but I don't feel the need to insult the OP.
Hopefully someone will come along with answers...and manners to resolve the issue.

5. Thanks for your support. I was trying to give him/her the benefit
of the doubt. But maybe it was just rudeness. Though I must say I'm surprised that someone would insult me for being anti-war.

7. No it's for supporting two Green Party candidates
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 01:41 PM by ...of J.Temperance
I certainly don't want the Repukes taking the New York Senate seat off us...but the Green Party does, because they're frustrated and failed non-politicians thats why.

On Edit: Spelling error.

11. OK, first off, there's no change that Hillary will lose, even if there
were 1000 third party candidates.

Second, thanks for telling me that both challengers are Green. You were helpful and didn't even know it.

Third, I would love for you to tell me these "frustrated and failed" candidates names so I can decide for myself whether they have more to offer than their anti-war stance.

Fourth, how much value is it to have Dem Senators who until recently were still calling for 80,000 more troops? Maybe a good old bona-fide challenge would remind Hillary that most NY Dems are WAAAY to the left of her and her interests. She does seem to ignore her constituents (unless they are upstate Repugs whose votes she's itchin' to get.)

17. Jonathan Tasini is running as a Democrat in the Democratic Primary
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 01:57 PM by Tom Rinaldo
against Hillary Clinton. He came to a meeting of my local Democratic Party Club in Shandakan Township New York. People accepted him there as a Democrat planning to run against Clinton in the Democratic Primary. I was unable to make the meeting so I can not share any personal observations about Jonathan with all of you. I haven't looked into him much as of yet so I don't know how long he has been registered as a Democrat.

I don't see what should be controversial about anyone at DU wanting to talk about a candidate in a Democratic Primary, except maybe a real pretender like Lyndon LaRuche. But even so if the Democratic Party were to deem LaRuche a legitimate Democrat (and it did refuse to allow him to enter the Democratic debates for President in 2004), then people could try their best to make a case for him also I suppose, though I wouldn't want to be the one to attempt it, lol.

For those who oppose the war, support democratic choice, workers rights.

Opposite the hillary/W fans

10. Support Democratic choice
Of course Hillary being a Democratic Senator and a member of the Democratic Party doesn't support Democratic choice does she?

And you post a link to promote Jonny.

13. J, sorry about the death of your friend, really.
Its a terrible thing.

I am not sure what that has to do with choosing who to support in the NY senate race, but it is a terrible thing.

But to say that people on DU should not debate about a democrat who supports the immoral, illegal, insane war is just wrong and unhelpful.

There are even other Democrats running against h. clinton.

12. exactly who elected you to define who is a Democrat?
If a Democrat wants to challenge Hillary for the Democratic Party nomination for the Senate, so be it. But the silly labelling of some Democrats as "not Democrats" has gotten pretty old. Tasini's supporters better come up with something better than that if they expect to be taken even remotely seriously. There are a lot of Democrats in New York who understand perfectly well the clear differences between Hillary and W and anyone who tries to equate the two is basically writing off most NY Dems.

18. I also support the right of Greens to challange her.
People will then have a right to vote for them.. or not. Its called democracy.
If clinton loses to a republican, then blame hillary... or blame the rupublican... blame the voters... don't blame the green party candidate... it is really not logical.

Choice, its a wonderful thing. It is something some people feel we should be protected from at all costs.

15. Jonathan Tasini is democrat challenging from within the party

http://www.tasinifornewyork.org/

Vote For What You Believe In! That was the late Paul Wellstone's campaign slogan, and I am proudly adopting it for my campaign, which officially begins tomorrow, for the Democratic nomination for Senator from New York.

My campaign challenging incumbent Hillary Clinton is based on a simple -- yet, in our political world, utterly radical -- idea: It asks people to abandon the classic choice of lesser-of-two-evils and vote from the heart, gut and conscience.
