Draft James Webb for VA Senate 2006
Hey everybody I posted this a while ago in GD: Politics and I wanted to give y'all an update. There is a Draft James Webb website up now and Id appreciate it if everyone could mosey over there and check this guy out. If you like what you see, please sign the petition. He would be a stellar candidate and would turn a garuanteed GOP seat into a hot race and a possible Dem pickup. Virginia is trending blue, Warner and Kaine made big waves, and its time for George "The California Cowboy" Allen to get the hell out of DC.

--Old Post--

We need a Dem candidate to beat George "less-than-worthless" Allen in 2006. To quote Raising Kaine's blog - That man would be former Navy Secretary James Webb.

This guy is extremely impressive: first in his class at the Marine Corps Officer’s Basic School in Quantico, Virginia; earned the Navy Cross, the Silver Star Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, and two Purple Hearts in Vietnam; has a JD from Georgetown University; has written six best-selling novels; has even won an Emmy Award as a journalist. Who wouldn’t want THAT resume? Also, this is also a man who has spoken out against the Iraq war at least since September 2002, when he asked the question, “Do we really want to occupy Iraq for the next 30 years?” Smart guy!

--end snip--

He would be a great candidate and we need everyone to contact him and urge him to run. This is a great year for Democrats and George is definitely beatable. Help us get a solid candidate here in Virginia. Please sign the petition and/or email him at webmaster@jameswebb.com

1. I don't live in VA, but I'd love to see Allen gone!
Why is a draft Webb campaign? Doesn't he want to run?

His resume sounds very good. I'm sure the big problem is going to be $$!

2. Pledge $$$ Online
That's in part why we're doing this, to show that money can be raised from the netroots. We're not collecting funds, but we are collecting pledges -- we're going to pass along the data to Webb to help convince him the support is there.

Please visit the site and fill in the form, if you're interested -- http://www.draftjameswebb.com

And use the "tell a friend" form to pass it along!

3. DONT LET THIS DIE
guys and gals...i cant stress this enough...Virginia is a competitive race if we get a good candidate like James Webb. We need to pick up 6 seats to take back the Senate. Currently 7 are up for grabs. WE NEED TO CHALLENGE EVERY SINGLE GOP SENATE SEAT IN 2006. I dont know how I can stress this point more. Virginia is ripe for a change and Kaines win in 2005 proves this. We CAN beat Allen but we need a viable candidate...

JAMES WEBB IS THAT CANDIDATE!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont make me get on my knees and beg you guys. This state is too good for the likes of George Allen. We are ready to elect a Dem but we need YOUR support to get a good candidate on the ballot. Go to http://draftjameswebb.com and sign the petition. Keep this kicked. Get the word out. Virginia is in play...
