Sometimes I feel like I've stepped off the 'merry-go-round' and stepped into an alien world, with the way this Government is operating.
It has always been my understanding (and I'm college educated) that the President is the Commander in Chief to the armed forces ONLY! Unless he declares Martial Law, he has no real authority over 'Joe Citizen'. The duly (supposedly) Congress handle the 'people's issues, make the laws etc..etc..
Therefore, King George has overstepped (and fell over) his own ego! Im so confused right now, as I keep hearing how he has circumvented this law, circumvented that law, 'adjusted' this and that law, changed this or that law..."due to exectutive orders".. Huh???
What did I miss here? I like to consider myself a fairly intelligent and well educated woman and Im not here bringing up what some might consider 'dumb' issues. To me, these are real issues that need to be addressed at a grass roots level. I believe I understand how Government works.
Where is all this power coming from...to spy on citizens.. Is it this Patriot Act? How do we get this dillusional moron back down to his own size...SMALL!
Now tell me something I don't know...

I don't think you are missing anything. These people will say and do anything to solidify their hold on power and money.

3. Cassandra, Wes Clark has said exactly what you said regarding the |
|
"Commander in Chief" term. He noticed that term being bandied about loosely by the Repubs and the talking heads, implying that the chimp was the "Commander in Chief" of everyone. General Clark has spoken out many times concerning this and hoped that people wouldn't fall for it.
I have heard many of the idiots on Faux say, "Our Commander in Chief". I am sure Rush Limbaugh and people of his ilk say the same thing. It goes along with them thinking we are not allowed to speak out and criticize Bush. The term encourages the non-thinking "Joe Citizen" to become meek.
Come to think of it, I remembering the press secretary, Scott McClellen, often using that term, "The (or our) Commander in Chief". Ugh!
