8. It will be Kerry or Clark
I'd give the edge to Kerry on 1) momentum and 2) he's been able to portrary himself as the 'grunt' tough-guy veteran ... somehow.

9. Kerry
upon further reflection I think Kerry will win it.

FYI, here is letter in today's Grand Forks Herald Tribune:

Posted on Fri, Jan. 30, 2004

MAILBAG: Support Kerry, send him to the White House

GRAND FORKS - There is a large and growing sense - among Democrats, independents and even some Republicans - that George Bush has done great damage to our country in only three years.

* * *

In short, many of us believe he and the people around him are a serious threat to the honor and well-being of our country.

Feb. 3, Democrats and those independents who agree that Bush cannot be trusted with four more years at the helm of the federal government will cast a vote in the North Dakota primary to measure support here for the various candidates.

I hope you will join me in supporting Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry. His military bravery, support for veterans, years of experience in foreign affairs, understanding of hunting issues, understanding of the need for fair trade rules in global trade, and overall vision of lifting up all levels of American society make him a good candidate to head the ticket in North Dakota.

Kerry is an honest idealist with 35 years of practical, common sense experience in governing. He knows who he is, where we need to go and how to get there.

I believe John Kerry has the experience and the know how to lead our country, and I will be standing up for him at my caucus on February 3rd.”

Dr. Sanstead is the highest ranking classroom teacher serving in public office. 19. Hardly a coronation. Look how hard he had to work at it when
so many in the media and in the Dem party declared his candidacy dead for months.

14. A poll I saw yesterday
had Kerry at 31 percent, Clark at 15, everyone else was under 6 percent and there was 40% undecided.

I'd give you a link but I don't have it bookmarked, but there was a thread here on DU called "North Dakota poll?" from yesterday.

The Forum - 01/30/2004

Sen. John Kerry’s surging campaign appears poised to win North Dakota’s Democratic caucuses Tuesday, according to a Forum-WDAY poll taken this week.

Kerry’s 31 percent support more than doubled that of his closest rival.

Gen. Wesley Clark came in second with 15 percent of the vote.

Sen. John Edwards and Howard Dean trailed with 6 percent and 5 percent, respectively. Sen. Joe Lieberman lagged farther behind with
2 percent support. Candidate Dennis Kucinich recorded 1 percent and Al Sharpton scored less than 1 percent.
