Do we really trust NBC and Andrea Mitchell to do a complete |

inquiry into whether Amanpour was spyed on?

even if some journalistic protocols are followed, the management will kill the story....
If you saw Andrea on Hardball last night, she did everything she could to portray the GOP in a favorable light....I have no faith in her reporting...

3. My theory is that Mitchell is playing both sides. |

If Saffire was wiretapped, then why not Mitchell or Greenspan? If Rove wants absolute loyalty, what a better way to drive terror in the hearts of his supporters by letting them know he's keeping an eye on them.
Andrea may have fed the liberals Amanpour to help trigger an investigation just to make sure that she and Al were not on the list. I don't think this scandal is going to end with NBC. Amanpour doesn't work for NBC.

I bet there are a whole bunch of Republicans right now trying to figure out how to put a stop to Bush without making their whole party look bad. They have got to be freaking out. The press know they are supposed to investigate the spying and corruption, but they don't want to hand the next election or two to the Democrats.

4. It's possible - reporters |
|
like to think they look out for each other. The fact that Mitchell even asked, suggests that Amampour and/or her husband Rubin found out on their own that they are tapped. They may even be in the same social circle as Mitchell given Rubin's position with Clinton. Maybe they couldn't figure out exactly who was doing it, but had great suspicions. Now with the relase of the "secret" by the Times, they can press forward and are using buddies in the press to help.
But Mitchell may have blown it all (on purpose?) with her premature question. Now the Bushies have a bit of time to erase proof of this batch of dirty deeds.

5. If she wanted to tip off the White House, why would she have to go |

public? Now the investigation is going to have public support.

9. If Mitchell "blew it," was it with NBC's approval? |
|
If Mitchell acted on her own, wouldn't NBC have a word with her? Isn't that a story all its own?

Unless they're in danger of being scooped, they'll sit on the story just like the Times did.
