If anyone wants a good chuckle to begin their day...
check out this site. I was watching CSPAN late last night and saw a the McCain-Dorgan Indian Affairs Committee grilling this president of CREA. I went to their site this morning to see exactly what Republican Environmental Advocacy is...Check it out for yourself. Its a pro-industry front group of course. And their President could be in big trouble for their dealings with Abramoff and the Department of the Interior.

Republican Environmental Activism. I choked when I saw this woman.

1. I watched the hearing last night, too
Edited on Thu Jan-05-06 10:28 AM by SharonRB
McCain and Dorgan really gave it to her. I thought the name of the organization was an oxymoron -- Republican Environmental Advocacy? Give me a break! Watching this was way more entertaining than the Rose Bowl -- hubby didn't even make me change the channel back to the game until the hearing was over.

On edit: I checked out the site -- what a bunch of propaganda!

3. Yeah I thought USC was going to win
and put CSPAN on. It almost makes me want to try and like McCain. I said almost try to.

She knows less about global warming then I do and I am a most certainly a novice.

2. I thought this was a real
joke.....

Like the great GOP President, Theodore Roosevelt, we are Republicans who believe conservation benefits all Americans. The Council of Republicans for Environmental Advocacy (CREA) is committed to preserving America’s natural resources, air, water, and scenic beauty for future generations. CREA's mission is to foster environmental protection by promoting fair, community-based solutions to environmental challenges, highlighting Republican environmental accomplishments and building on our Republican tradition of conservation.

18. Pg. 1
Big corporations make the environment safer. Regulations are bad, very bad.

Pg 2

George W. Bush has done more for environmental causes then any President in history

Pg 3

If you care about the environment, you will call Ralph Reed and make a donation.

THE END.

17. There has not been a Republican environmental accomplishment
since (god forgive my saying so) Richard Nixon.

The very thought that there is ANYTHING that could make Nixon look good...

29. Detente

Lowering the Iron Curtain exposing the people of the Soviet Union to American goods and services**?

Going to China?

** If Reagan defeated the USSR through a military buildup, then there was no ideological victory as that would mean our big gov't beat their big gov't. Conversely, if Nixon beat them by ending the Iron Curtain strategy, then communist goods lost out to free enterprise goods marking an ideological victory. Former soviet officials agree that is exactly why they lost. Why do conservative here want to claim otherwise?

5. Yeah, I also saw this hearing a couple months ago,
when it was still fresh. That CREA is nothing more than a pass-through for fascist political gifts. Certainly no environmentally concerned organization, they, unless you mean letting the NAZIs breathe a little easier!

6. Basically the group is a Gail Norton/Norquist
front for big industry. Italia Federici, the President, who was completely dopey throughout the hearing, doing the typical GOP "I KNOW NOTHING" routine, was basically a way for Abramoff to get to Steven Greiles(sp?). She was the middle wo(man) for lack of a better term. She was squirming big time.

I loved Dorgan's question about her politcal motivations and a Kerry commercial. I am fascinated by this Abramoff scandal. I've been saying this for a couple days, but it is liberal porn.

9. That site is typical PUGlican
Theres a long article by Ms. Federici on the site that talks about how Republicans have done and do more for the environment then Democrats ever will. Then, she talks about the Sierra Club is nothing more then a political organization designed to hurt Republicans. Its typical spin, but a great read.

the Sierra Club is not bipartisan and that most of their endorsements come from Dems.

14. I also watched the Griles hearing.
He appears to be (to suspicious me) a typical DC pol --a drunk, who attends meetings with amplesauce and has no frickin' idea what was actually said and done.

11. On that site it also praises the ANWR legislation
By reading CREA you get the impression that ANYTHING Bush or the Republicans do IS environmentally friendly and EVERYTHING the dems do is not.

I think I've entered the twilight zone!

Your donation of $10, $25, $50, $100 or more is crucial to CREA's success! Donate today to receive CREA's electronic newsletter, updates on environmental issues that are important to you, and a 'Pro-Tree, Pro-Bush' bumper sticker!

PRO-TREE, PRO-BUSH...I cant take it anymore. I am laughing so hard.
