1. No, I think it's because they want to start pulling the troops out of
Iraq, and want to find some "justification" for doing so.

3. I agree more with this reason
I don't think it has anything to do with the NSA spying. Of course, I doubt he'll listen to any of them.

2. So he could lie again
He's going to say that they agreed with him.
Bush is a congenital liar. He lied about the scope of the spying program. He lied about the intelligence provided Congress. He lied about WMD. The man couldn't tell the truth because he no longer knows what it is.

7.  No, she won't.
But look how many have spoken up and they simply don't get covered by the press? Instead the press covers the lies.
He still keeps repeating the lie that Congress had the same intelligence he had.

4. Consulting about actions against Iran perhaps, to give Bush cover
Edited on Thu Jan-05-06 11:31 AM by wishlist
Whether it is about Iraq, Iran or the illegal spying you can be sure Bush is going to try and spin things as a consensus in agreement with whatever he wants to do so he can deflect any criticism by saying these people all agreed with him.

6. widespread war in asia.
I think this has more to do with Iran than anything else. SOS/SOD would be the wrong sorts for justifying turning the gestapo's monitoring system on. That would be DOJ/DCI types instead.

The Cabal has asserted dictatorial powers - I don't buy for a second that they didn't allow the leak on the NSA program. They are using this to establish the executive authority to act above constitution and law based on a blatant misreading of the war powers in the constitution. They don't need a parade of SOS/SOD clowns to justify this, they need them to sign on to a broader conflict.

8. I think it's just PR
A photo op- "See, I'm consulting outside the bubble"

No. Way. will the petty, vindictive bushbots actually take advice from anyone who has been as critical as some of these guests.

9. i think he's letting each and everyone one of them
know what dirt was dredged up on them from the NSA wiretaps!

He's using this info to either silence their criticism or to buy their "support".

10. Window dressing......
He wants to be able to say that he has consulted both sides. Then he'll just ignore any dissenting opinion and "stay the course".

14. 2 Reasons...
1 to counterattack discussion that he only hears what he wants to hear
2 to have a means of spreading the blame around later this year as Iraq continues to deteriorate

Even Joe Lieberman should know that by now. Democrats should stop playing his games.
