bartcop vs. DU......
...well isn't this special? Now bartcop has classified DU'ers as "they"....

They really, really hate Hillary on the DU Forums.
Reading the glee in their hate speech makes me think they'd sooner vote for Rush or Bush

They also can't believe my "idiocy" about Hillary being the front-runner.
They want to know "in which alternative universe is that true?"

Gee, I'm so old, I remember when being 30 points ahead of your nearest challenger (43-14 for Kerry)
made you the favorite, but I guess the rules are different on the Democratic Underground Forums

Too bad they're not able to find their way over here - to bartcop.com

http://www.bartcop.com/

Regardless of the "pro-Hillary" stances, or "anti-Hillary" stances, am I the only one a little miffed by a purported Democrat trying to marginalize our site as "they"? Incidentally bartcop, I'm able to "find" my "way" over to your site everyday. If you're a Democrat, I will assume I am still welcome to view it?....

1. circular firing squad anyone?
I'm not a huge Hillary fan (never was actually) but if she's the nominee, I'll work my ass off for her as will most DUers I think

i seriously doubt she'll win the primaries though, too many Dems are more progressive than she is

if bartcop thinks she's the best we can offer, more power to him but me? hmmmmmm not so much......

2. I agree. She's not my choice either.....
...but 99.9% of us will probably pull the lever for the candidate who has a (D) after their name. To suggest that we would vote for Rush, or a Bush, is beyond insulting.

3. yES....but unfortunately it heralds the coming discontent...
that will break out here on DU. Long term DUers can well remember the "wars" during the primaries, which began to erupt not only on the GD boards, but even in the lounge....

The tension from that time still emerges on occasion. Still, Bartcop has many fans over here. I'm sad to see him so sharply define a split with fellow Dems/libs/progressives.

6. luckily I was so busy wearing out shoeleather that i missed most
of the primary wars, but a stint as a GDPolitics mod gave me a taste

we'll see lots of rants and debates as 2007 arrives, but i certainly hope that we can stay focused until we get the 06 elections done

I like Bart and will continue to support his site.

11. Right, good people get to be wrong
and he's totally wrong on H. Clinton. She's a fine Senator and should stay where she is. She may eventually become a great Senator. However, her pandering to the worst elements in the party to score points with conservatives have disqualified her from any support from me for the top slot.

I just can't bring myself to vote Repug, even if the candidate has a "D" after his or her name.

7. They only thing Bartcop may be guilty of is attributing a herd mentality
to DU. Although I really can see why he might get that impression.

9. That's what offended me. He had a problem with a specific poster....
...but to then attribute all of us as potential Rush or Bush voters, was beyond the pale. It just marginalizes those who are here, especially to the uninformed.

8. This is but a prelude to a wider split within the left
This is much the same atmosphere that surrounded the '68 election, with the anti-war left getting completly shut out of the party by the moderates. Come clean for Gene really brought some life to the party, bringing in hundreds of thousands of anti-war folks. But sadly, after RFK's assasination, the Chicago convention, and the selection of the war pig Humphrey, the anti-war left felt that they didn't have a home in the party and dropped out. Nixon won, and Democratic politics were set back years.

And apparently not only has Bush failed to learn his historical lessons from 'Nam, but so has the Democratic party, with the activist anti-war left being shunned and stifled by Hillary and her ilk. And if it comes down to Hillary winning the nod in '08, and we have two warhawks to choose from in November, well then the left will once again leave, and the Democratic party will be split in two, perhaps causing the party itself to fail. And quite frankly if that happens, perhaps it will be for the best. Then a true leftist party can rise out of the ashes.

10. We have freepers on DU. Just because something is posted in DU does NOT
mean that everyone on DU has that opinion.

We have had some really ugly stuff posted here by Freeper trolls - for the very purpose of being able to go to other boards and being able to say "See what DU is saying, thinking, etc."

12. The weird thing about Bart
Is that the Hillary he supports is not really Actually Existing Hillary. Actually Existing Hillary fits pretty comfortably in Bart's Pink Tutu Democrat mold. Bart's Hillary is Hillary of Arc, who at some carefully calculated moment in the future will lead the charge against the war and all the other BFEE crimes.

13. I don't really give a sh*t...
...I would most definately vote for Hillary over Bush or Rush. But christ, can't we set the bar a little higher? I mean, I'd vote for my freshest dumped load over Bush or Rush. It makes more sense, and doesn't smell half as bad.

16. That was an appropriate word in that sentence
What would you have preferred? When you're referring to a group of people, "they" is the correct pronoun.

This is a very strange objection.

17. I agree with bartcop
The Hillary haters on Du are just as bad as the ones on free republic, they both say the same things. Which incidentally, is a good sign in my book for her, that the extremes on both sides don't like her.

But I also agree Du sometimes is inflitrated by trolls who post stuff just to make Du look bad and it can be hard to tell sometimes what is what. So broadbrushing Du is wrong as well.

19. COMPLETE BULLSHIT! the freepers that go after Hillary
think she is a stalinist for chrissake. Those of us here at DU who aren't part of her personality cult don't like her because she is pro-war and panders to cultural conservatives with her anti-flag burning crap and video game violence stuff among other things. your "analysis" is totally disingenuous.

are always silly, imo. Best to ignore them rather than to fuel into them. Ebb and flow. Don't take things personal. Angry responses just beget more angry responses.
