Do you get the feeling the media and politicians are trying to minimize... |
|
the Abramoff scandal?
From the start, we have had those in the media suggest that this is a "bi-partisan" scandal. It was expected to be that way from right-wing talk radio, but there isn't much difference from the corporate media. This morning, Brian Lamb of C-SPAN, intentionally or not, tried to make the issue about "lobbyists" only. He made no distinction between those that accepted bribes and those that did not.
The politicians, both Parties, have been mostly silent about it. True, most of them have been on vacation. I suppose it is natural not to want to piss off those folks you have to work with on a daily basis? But, I get the feeling they are trying to deflate this story as rapidly as they possibly can?

1. I think you're right on the mark. |

The Corporate Media, and their parent corporations, are thoroughly complicit in the rise of American Fascism, so what would you expect of them? As for the Democrats, with a few exceptions (Conyers, Feingold, some others) they mostly act as if they're either afraid or bought out. Personally, I expect that both the carrot and the stick are in operation. They have a choice between being well-rewarded or being Well-stoned.
