John Kerry Blasts Pat Robertson for Sharon Comments
John Kerry Blasts Pat Robertson for Sharon Comments
January 6th, 2006

Ron posted here yesterday about Pat Robertson’s comments yesterday on Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s recent stroke.

Today, Senator John Kerry issued the following statement on Rev. Pat Robertson’s comments on Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon:

“It is beyond shocking to think that as Prime Minister Sharon fights for his life, Pat Robertson would attack his character and disparage the risks Ariel Sharon took to bring peace and security to Israel. At a time like this, you’d expect bigoted tin-horn dictators and petty thugs like President Ahmadinejad of Iran to attack Sharon, but no American who claims to be a leader should stoop so low. Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised to hear such venom from someone who claimed Hurricane Katrina was punishment for the people of New Orleans.

“Ariel Sharon is a courageous and good man, and he deserves the world’s prayers, just as the people of Israel today deserve an apology from Pat Robertson.”

2. As should every responsible leader...
political, religious, corporate, etc...

Thank you John Kerry for your brave & righteous words

Enough is enough.. Old Batshit Pat needs to
ejected from the arena of public discourse.

Of course the approving silence from Junior
proves once again that the Republican reich
is adrift without moral compass.

4. Some well placed words against 'Jesusland' would help, too ...
... I'm sure most people aren't aware of that and would be horrified to hear that their 'Holy Land' may be turned into a fun park.

5. So Kerry blasts Iran while blasting Robertson?
Geesch...
The people of Iran chose Ahmadinejad - he's not a tin-horn dictator.
Ahmadinejad's comments were outrageous, but they were supposed to be. I disagree with them, of course, but I wouldn't call the guy a dictator. Especially not in popping Robertson, who needs to be popped OFTEN for his own actions and words.

I hope Kerry's not falling for the BushCo. lead up to war in Iran.

John Kerry Condemns Iranian President’s Latest Disgusting Statement
December 14th, 2005

Senator John Kerry called for United States to condemn Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad today. He made the following statement today in response to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s escalated anti-Israel rhetoric:

“From the highest levels of our government, the United States needs to condemn forcefully President Ahmadinejad’s latest reprehensible statement. Silence in the face of hate speech is not an option. If President Ahmadinejad thinks he can call the Holocaust a “myth” and get away with it, he’s wrong. We must condemn his exceedingly hateful comments in the strongest possible way all over the globe. Silence and inaction allowed the hatred of Nazism to go unchallenged, the world must not repeat that grave mistake of history today. More than mere hateful attacks from an extreme ideologue, Ahmadinejad’s comments serve as a stark reminder that it’s long overdue to stand up to the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism and lead an unrelenting international effort to make Iran cease its support of terrorism.”

Ahmadinejad escalated his anti-Israeli rhetoric today, calling the Holocaust a “myth” used by Europeans to create a Jewish state in the heart of the Islamic world.

Ahmadinejad last week questioned whether the Nazi destruction of 6 million European Jews during World War II occurred and said Israel should be moved to Europe. He also provoked an international outcry in October when he called for Israel to be “wiped off the map.”

John Kerry’s response to Ahmadinejad’s comments last week can be found here.

8. How does this DISPROVE that Kerry's not falling for BushCo.'s
rhetoric?

I know what Ahmadinejad said. I disagree with it, but I think it's being played to the hilt to lead us into war with Iran and, by even paying attention to a bunch of kooked-out words strung together by a silly man, Kerry's egging it on.

11. Actually, it was a brilliant move to link the two - makes it harder for W
to insist Iran needs to be attacked for their nutty theocratic leader.

10. Very moving words. I find Kerry's statement to be much more
damning and powerful than the statement released from the White House through an aid.
