6. Oh he gets it
He just doesn't care. Nor do any of the elite class. So long as they can live a padded lifestyle, to hell with the rest of 'em. Oh yes, they know exactly what they are doing. To say they don't gives them too much credit as a human being. They're not stupid. They're evil.

15. They need to pump up foreign countries and bring ours down so that
they can create the ideal low cost worldwide labor force for the corporations. Not too many people have noticed. You can't increase your profits if a certain amount of work must be kept in the country where the salaries are too high and the benefits are too bountiful. Unions must go. How dare someone tell the have-mores what they want. There can be no middle class rising because you only need so many executives and there must be total control of the populace.

The middle class must come down. And the street people who don't pay taxes can be offed. But the have-mores have received permission to have more.

Slavery or serfdom. Which form will it take?

18. Exactly
To them the middle class blurs the distinction between them and the lower class. They need the lower class. Without them, whose shoulders will they stand on?

28. $80,000 might not be bad if you didn't have kids and if you lived
in a place where the cost of living is low. i know when we lived in new york city we were making about $100,000 -- didn't own a house -- we're taxed up our asses. my husband finally got a transfer to phoenix and it's so much easier here -- well it was when we moved here 16 years ago but housing has gone sky high here too.

16. i can't believe my ears. 50% of people invested in the stock
Edited on Fri Jan-06-06 01:38 PM by catmother
market? even if it's in a 401k i don't see stocks doing that well. i pulled all of our stocks out of the 401k and transferred them to a fixed income account.

entitlements: Jesus H. Christ. social security and medicare are not entitlements. we pay for social security with our taxes matched by our employer. my husband's last social security statement 8/05 states that my husband paid in $92,239 -- his employer paid $92,310. that's a total of $184,558. when my husband starts to collect in 4 years is that an entitlement? medicare -- my husband has paid in $31,148 -- his employer $31,158. total $62,306. when he's eligible for medicare in 7 years (much more will have been paid in) is that an entitlement? especially when the monthly cost of medicare premiums is up to $88.20 per month. i hope i'm making sense. i'm just so angry.

my husband makes approximately $150k but made more in the clinton years when the company gave bonuses every year of between $20,000-$40,000. those were taken away. just this last year they reinstated the commission but it only amounted to $10,000. that's a big difference. now don't get me wrong i'm not complaining. we have a very good income. we have money in the bank, but it wasn't always that way. my husband has been with his company 36 years. we're okay. but i remember when we were younger -- struggling to make ends meet. so my concern is for the younger people. they may never get to make what we're making with dedication and hard work.

and health care -- the company used to pay the premiums 100%. now we pay a part -- they go up every year along with higher deductibles and co-payments. we can afford it -- but what about the guy who's making $40,000 a year and has children. they can't afford it.

i'm sorry if i went on and on but i just can't believe the stupidity that comes out of the mouth of this administration.

the president claims less unemployment. he doesn't take into account the people who lost their jobs and took jobs paying way less.

On EDit: anyone can get their social security statement with projected retirement amounts. it's a good idea to do it every few years so you can make sure that all of your earnings are recorded. we get ours sent to us once a year.

those damn tax cuts he carries on about -- everyone loves a tax cut but not at the cost of desperately needed social programs.

on edit: i just heard the other day that the average family has $9,000 of credit card debt. that people are using credit cards for the everyday necessities like food, gasoline. something is very wrong here.

22. Ayup. 5 solid years of downward movement. Can't blame all that on 9/11 nor
on the dot-com bubble burst.

I mean, as this admin likes to say, we've had 2-3 years of "solid GDP growth".

Ok...solid GDP growth. Well, where are the jobs? Why are wages growing at 3.1% while inflation rises at 3.5%?

25. another thing that bugs me are the salaries of CEOs. shouldn't
there be some kind of cap. yesterday IBM announced that it was changing it's pension plan. someone posted the salaries of the top execs: the chairman and CEO makes $6.84 million and then there were other who were all $1.8, etc. i'm sorry i don't know how to post the site.

but my point is what do you do with $6.84 million a year? how many houses can you live in, how many cars can you drive, how many boats can you buy?

my husband and i discussed a hypothetical a while ago. what if he were paid $1 million a year. i said well first i assume that 50% would go in taxes. but then what about the other $500,000. well i would give a good hunk to charity. but then, i wouldn't know what to do with it. i love the house i live in -- maybe i would build another one, but i don't know. i love my mazda miata -- i would want to keep it. a boat -- maybe. we're people who live a simple but good life -- wouldn't want to change my lifestyle and get all dressed up and go to fancy functions.

so if i can't figure out how to spend $1 million a year what do people do with $6.84 million?

26. I can't see a cap on CEO earnings. That's up to stockholders and
boards of directors.

But, if there were to be something, it should be somehow tied to earnings (not stock price)

31. Gas prices are up here almost Fifty cents in the last 2/3 months..
So much for that bullshit on how prices would settle back down after the summer "driving season" was over. Yeah, they did and started going back up about as soon as they bottomed out.

Oh I know,NOW gas prices have to go up when it gets cold outside. Well, they can carry that line of shit all the way until the next "driving season" and then jack them back over $3.00 per gallon again. Why the does ANYONE who isn't a rich bastard vote for these thugs?
