Bird Flu or "suspected" Bird Flu? |
|
Is this for real, or not?
Bloomberg news bar stated "Third child dies from bird flu".
CNN news crawl stated, Child dies from "suspected" bird flu.
This might seem like a small discrepancy, but they are obviously trying to morph an uncertainty ("suspected") into a certainty.
Isn't this morphing technique why so many Americans still believe that Sadaam Hussein was responsible for 9/11?

1. It's always "suspected" until they get test results. |
|
IIRC the second bird flu death was confirmed and was the sibling of the first death. If this is another relative that died with similar symptoms, I can see why they might say "suspected" until they had actual confirmation.

4. They're different news agencies. Their wording standards might be |
|
different.
That aside, perhaps Bloomberg has information that CNN hasn't received yet.

3. It is "suspected" until test is back, news is being cautious today |
|
Not over reporting OMG news, but waiting for the report before reporting it. For some reason.
