Kerry won through dirty tricks? Let's see
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 05:25 PM by jpgray
I won't believe in the more ridiculous conspiracy nonsense until there is proof, but let's accept some for the sake of argument.

-The media propped up Kerry and blasted (candidate).

-Kerry used distortions, lies and dirty tricks to win.

Were those the causes of his victory? Then guess what--the media and Bush will do all of these things at 1,000 times the intensity. It's debatable that these "disadvantages" even exist at this point, but they WILL exist in the GE, and on a level far greater than anything that will happen in the primary.

The media will shill for Bush 24/7, and the same merry band of GOP disruptors will cause trouble in any state they can, as they did in 2000. So my question is, how will you respond to a much greater disadvantage if you can't win facing a smaller one--one that may not have ever existed?

The primaries are far from over. Kerry could easily lose, and the major candidates all still have a chance. But it's remarkable to me that people chalk up Kerry's victories to the two above "tricks" when Bush will use both in the GE. So the tricks will crush them now but not later? Shouldn't a candidate facing GWB be READY for this nonsense? How good is a candidate if he is totally defeated by the most basic of tricks in the fishbowl of a primary?

But again, I dispute these "tricks" ever took place. A few campaign staff members from all the candidates are overzealous pricks who have the wrong ideas. Kerry's and Dean's individual little push-pollers, are examples. But any campaign-sanctioned imposter robo-calling would (rightly) KILL a candidacy if exposed. As for the media, read the articles on this board. Wall-to-wall anti-Kerry, as was his coverage leading up to Iowa.

2. Exactly
Any dirty tricks the Kerry campaign may have used will look like child's play compared to what Bush's campaign will try.
