Bush LIED about NOT meeting Abramoff- and here's proof:

Bush is on record denying that he has met with Abramoff, or has ever had any personal relationship. Well, well. On May 9, 2001, Abramoff escorted Chief Poncho of the Coushetta Indian Tribe to the White House for a meeting with President Bush, for which he charged the Coushetta $25,000. Abramoff attended the maeeting, which lasted 15 minutes. How's that for a nexus of dirty money, Bush and Abramoff?

As if we didn't know, B*sh is a LIAR and someone in the MSM had better get on this one.

Chairman Poncho's $25,000 Ticket to Personal Meeting with Bush and escort, Abramoff

Abramoff brought the Coushatta and Choctaw chiefs to Washington at the request of Grover Norquist. Norquist is founder and director of Americans for Tax Reform, the advocacy group committed to slashing taxes until the federal government is so small you “can drown it in the bathtub.” Norquist started ATR in 1985. His power increased exponentially in 1994, when Republicans took control of the House of Representatives and he collaborated with then-Majority Whip Tom DeLay to launch the “K Street Project”—a coordinated campaign to compel lobbyists to contribute only to Republican candidates and ultimately to hire only Republicans. Like Abramoff and Rove, Norquist considered George Bush’s victory over Al Gore the culmination of a project the three Washington insiders started 30 years ago as national leaders of the College Republicans.

<snip>

The Coushattas, a southwest Louisiana tribe of 837 members, operate a casino that does an estimated $300 million in annual business. The $32 million they paid Abramoff and Scanlon makes the tribe the largest victim of the fraud their lawyers now allege in a lawsuit filed by Texas plaintiff’s firm Provost Umphrey. The tribe also contributed what tribal council member David Sickey said was probably “many millions” of dollars to political causes and charities designated by Abramoff.

<snip>

According to a source close to the tribal majority, Chairman Poncho recently “revisited that issue” of his visit to the White House. He had previously denied it because he thought he was responding to press inquiries that implied he had a one-on-one meeting with Bush. He now recalls that he in fact did go to the White House on May 9, 2001. Tribal attorney Kathryn Fowler Van Hoof went with him, although she did not get into the meeting with the President. That meeting lasted for about 15 minutes and was not a one-on-one meeting. At the meeting, Bush made some general comments about Indian policy but did not discuss Indian gaming. Abramoff was at the meeting—for which he charged the Coushatta Tribe $25,000. The change in Poncho’s position is odd in light of the fact that he and his spokespersons have maintained for more than a year that he did not meet with President Bush in May 2001.

12. Great idea - though I bet they "edit" those collections just like they
do to transcripts to remove "embarrassments." Worth a try though. Chief Poncho will have memories and his own copy of a souvenir photo too. Pretty expensive photo shaking hands with the Prez, for $25,000.

I think the official line is Bush doesn't know him but might have met him. This is to inoculate themselves in case pesky photos surface. Damn 21st century technology.

10. The Tribes need to be upfront. First of all, about money going to
Edited on Fri Jan-06-06 05:02 PM by higher class
Abramoff.

Here is a list of questions that they should be asked to reply to
to set the record stratight about Dems.

1. Did you give money to Abramoff? If Yes:

2. Did you understand that it would go to Republicans only?
If yes:
a. Are you aware from bank records that some went to Democrats anyway?
b. If yes - if some went to Democrats anyway, are you in agreement with that and what did it go for - a project benefiting all people on a reservation or a project benefiting casinos only?

3. Did you understand that it would go to Democrats only?
If not - why would Democrats be excluded?

4. Did you understand that it would go the Republicans and Democrats evenly?
a. If yes - do your bank records reflect that?
b. If no - if you didn't expect the funds to be distributed evenly, why would you agree to that and are you in agreement with the distribution?

5. Did you understand that it would go to Republican and Democrats unevenly?
Dems through Abramoff.

/////The Tribes should be responsible for some early trugh.

The problem is that the answers can all be different depending on the Tribe and the differences could still be used to create new lies by Republicans.

Let's ask the Tribes.

Does anyone know of any sites or threads where a person can find more words spoken by Tribes?

28. WH said they had no record of meeting members..Indian group says otherwise
The link of the below article also has lots of Indian tribe/Abramoff/chimp "connect the dots" articles.

So chimp and his cronies are more than happy to take the Indian money, but don't want to acknowledge they were even there. Go ahead and piss off the Indians, chimp, it will probably make them more than willing to testify against you/Abramoff/Delay.

http://www.indianz.com/News/2005/008614.asp

But a spokesperson said the White House has no records that the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana or the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians attended the May 9, 2001, meeting, the Associated Press reported. The tribes each gave $25,000 to cover the $100,000 cost of the event.

However, former Coushatta Chairman Lovelin Poncho has confirmed that he attended the meeting. But Choctaw Chief Philip Martin did not, an attorney for the tribe said.

The Coushattas and the Choctaws gave the money to Americans for Tax Reform, records show. The group is headed by Grover Norquist, an associate of Bush's, and is fighting a subpoena as part of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee investigation into Abramoff.

30. I wouldn't make too much of this
unless the meeting can be shown to have discussed gaming issues. Otherwise it can be passed off as a concern for general Indian betterment issues. And will be turned around on us. They would love an opportunity to do that and claim we are falsifying facts. We sure as hell don't want to give them any wiggle room to lower the heat.

Just because Abramhoff was in the room is light years from his having met the head prick.
