Homeland Security, my son, and Geo HW Bush....

A couple of years ago my oldest son (early 20s then)was filming GHWB at a commencement ceremony at Prairie View University, a mostly black school west of Houston. GHWB was delivering the commencement address and a friend of mine had the vid production contract.
My son was operating a camera mere feet from GHWB.

SS comes up and asks for an ID.
Son doesn't have one (doesn't drive and was not flying back then). Oh yeah, he is pretty rough looking- extremely long hair, beard, and LOTS of ear rings.

SS asked for Social Security number.
Son doesn't have one (never has had a job and not too cool with any kind of registration).

SS asks just what kind of ID or number he might have.
Son offers his cellphone number.
SS accepted that.

Feel safer?

He was close enough to poppy to spit on him. Didn't do it.

3. GHWB delivering a commencement speech in a mostly black school west of

houston is, in my mind, equal to pouring salt on an open wound. not only do we have to admire the control of your son not spitting in poppy's eyes. we also have to admire and applaud the endurance of the people who must have sat through such an ordeal...as having poppy show his utter hypocrisy or his subliminal arrogance.
