Moderate Repukes: Grow a set of balls and fight for the leadership spot
Seriously.

About 30-40 years ago Republicans were a noble party of politicians who believed in frugal spending and small government, nothing like the rabid assholes running the Republican party today.

Moderates have the power to claim the Majority Leader seat by insisting they either get that position (or the whip - something in top tier leadership) or walking out of the party. There is enough of them to pull this power play.

There are still good republicans in the House of Representative including my own rep, Mike Castle, DE-at large. Moderate republicans need to band together and wrest the party back out of the hands of these neo-con nut jobs.

4. I'm around
It's been busy at work so I head over to the lounge where I can post without using too many brain cells. Posting in this forum requires thinking!

2. There are some good Republicans, but far fewer than then
30-40 years ago, you actually had liberal Republicans like Lowell Weicker of CT. Heck, even Barry Goldwater would look like a moderate compared to a lot - he was at least pro-choice, pro-environment and for gays in the military. Yet, in 1964, Goldwater was so radical and out of the mainstream that he lost in an historic landslide.

In Connecticut, we have Chris Shays and our governor, Jodi Rell... and, there really aren't many far righties out there that are in office.

3. But I bet we could come up with 15 of them
that would make the difference between Repuke majority and Democratic Majority.

They band together and pull a Jeffords, even with threatening to leave the party and they could probably claim one of the republican leadership positions

5. Absolutely right - the moderates need to take back the party
They need to step up.
