something to think about when you hear "Abramoff associate"...

<snip>

Biden's situation is much different, but no less complicated. He received only $1,250, which was a straight-up individual campaign contribution. It was not considered tainted money by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, but it was by the very partisan Senate Republican Committee, which splashed the figure all over Internet sites. If that's the best that Republicans can do, they better pack it in now and prepare for the political carpet bombing when Abramoff starts squealing on them.

The Biden money came from one of 1,500 lawyers -- yes, that's one thousand five hundred, a scary number -- who work at Greenberg Traurig LLP, Abramoff's old law firm. G-T has offices in London, Amsterdam, Atlanta, Brussels, Chicago, New York, Zurich, Los Angeles, and, of course, Wilmington.

I suppose it's possible to track down a Wilmington G-T lawyer who gave the maximum individual contribution to the Biden campaign chest. But is it worth the effort? To call this person an "Abramoff associate" is more than a stretch. It's Republican desperation.

1. Republicans sure like lawyers...
but then when you marinate yourself in corruption, you need to have many on hand.

2. Ironically in 1992, Dan Quayle said there were too many lawyers
-- in front of the American Bar Association.

Depends what kind of lawyer you mean, Dannyboy.

"Trial lawyers" or "corporate defense lawyers".
