Bail Denied for Blackwell

The man who acquired fame and fortune as a marketing genius could not sell the idea of his own freedom.

A federal appeals court in Cincinnati denied bond for Roger Blackwell on Friday. That means the former Ohio State professor will report to federal prison in Morgantown, West Virginia on January 17th.

Blackwell apparently had learned the news just minutes before 10TV arrived at his door Friday afternoon. It had been three weeks since Blackwell entered the federal courthouse downtown, where he was sentenced to six years in prison and $1 million fine.


His lawyers’ response was to ask for bond to keep Blackwell out of jail during his appeals process. But in its decision Friday, the Court of Appeals wrote:

However my heart did a flip. All I could think of is that KEN Blackwell was going to jail. With all the crap floating around the state these days, maybe he can be next!

I wouldn't be too surprised to here about the Ken Blackwell going to jail fairly soon with this Abramoff plea going down. I certainly am hopeful..
