How about a double whammy of Vietnam War hero vets to take on AWOL and Mr. "I had other priorities" Cheney? Former Neb senator Bob Kerrey is an intelligent, articulate guy, well-versed in both foreign and domestic policy. He ran for prez in '92 so he's been around the track and knows how the game is played. If if weren't for his last name he might actually be a great pick. After that I favor FL senator Bob Graham. If his addition to a potential Kerry ticket could put them over the top in FL then the Dems would be quite close to the magic 270.

1. I hadn't thought of Bob Kerrey, |

he would, indeed, have been a good choice were it not for his name (can you imagine the fun the media whores would have with that one?). I disagree about Graham, though. I very much like and respect him, but I think his health would become a major issue and liability.

then I think they win the election. If Graham could put them over the top there it will be mighty tempting.

3. I always liked Bob Kerrey |

He's out of politics now, probably wouldn't want it. Still he's an interesting choice. Might pull in those Nebraska electoral votes!

Kerrey has said a lot of unpopular (translation: accurate) things about entitlement programs. Besides, I doubt even Kerrey could carry Nebraska these days.
But he would be an eminently qualified choice -- a two-term governor, two-term senator, and recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

6. People here in Nebraska loved Kerrey. |

He might just push them to vote Dem for president.

7. There is the issue of war crimes involving troops under... |

Bob Kerrey's command.
Bring it on!
Let's have a DLC Dream Team. It couldn't be any worse than a Kerry/Gephardt ticket.

12. I'll take Bob. Perhaps it's time to draft him for the top of the ticket? |
