Can O'Connor withdraw her resignation?
Not that I think that is even in the realm of possibilities but she has to be looking at this Alito character wondering if she made a mistake resigning while that criminal runs the country.

She has to know that Alito is a right-wing nut-job with an agenda.

I don't see why not.

2. Why would she?
If she really cared at all, she wouldn't have resigned in the first place. She's obviously not that concerned about what will happen when she's gone.

3. She can recind her resignation... but doubt she will
after all, it was her vote that got her man in office..

and she is quoted as saying disparaging remarks at cocktail party when news came in that Gore won in 2000.

it makes me crazy when members of our own party, reference her as a moderate in light of this one unconstitutional act.

5. We'r e stuck with a conservative-- better an O'Connor than a Scalia
O'Connor at least was a moderate conservative, and tended to judge cases on their individual merits rather than being a predictable right-wing rubber stamp like Scalia.

Better someone like her than someone who will predictably vote with Thomas and Scalia.

Plus her husband is very sick, so she can be forgiven for wanting to resign. It's not really a question of weanting to throw the US to the wolves (even though that may unfortunately be the result.)
