Am I the only one who doesn't believe the Cheney story?
They are saying his shortness of breath was caused by a medication he was taking for his foot ailment. I just don't buy it, but maybe I'm crazy. He looks weak and terrible. I think the guy is on his way out and they are spinning this whole thing.

The guy had to sit for his VP debate with John Edwards in 04 since he just can't stand for very long at all. Something about their explanation just doesn't sound "right."

11. Searching OUR medical records for exact donor match for new heart?
Yes, someone with an exact match is just an "accidental" slip and fall away from donating their heart. Sounds like a Stephen King or Robin Cook novel, but hey, he would have access to everyone's confidential medical records and it's necessary for the War on Terror that sacrifices be made to keep our irreplaceable VP alive to keep promoting Halliburton's best interests. It's taken 5 + years but Bush has finally driven me to don the tinfoil hat.

it's completely believable. Well at least to me. I wear my tinfoil with pride. Not conspiracy theories, just coincidence theories.:tinfoilhat:

29. Entirely believable - Read "Heart Seizure" by Bill Fitzhugh.
Hilarious - and dead on with what's going on in DC these days.

2. It's CHF, like I posted on another thread...
That's Congestive Heart Failure, for those of you unfamiliar with medical lingo.

Part of the story about Cheney mentioned something about him currently taking Lasix (a diuretic) because of fluid retention caused by anti-inflammatories he's been taking for a bad foot.

It doesn't tally. Look at some of his recent pics, and how puffy he appears. It's CHF. But, just like Pravda, the press won't pursue the obvious: that one of the Politburo top officials is on his way out. Probably feet first.

9. Well, prednisone will cause edema.....
We just don't have enough honest medical data to fairly speculate. We do know his circulatory system is slowly shutting down. Is he also diabetic? I suspect so.....

10. My wife and I both blurted
"Heart failure" when edema was mentioned. Cheney is starting the slide into old age as a heart patient on extreme terms with his organ.

14. So he'll just topple over?
I had a cousin that did that. Dead before he hit the floor. If this is Cheney's fate, you'd think the WH would want to ease him out the door now and send out their talking points to ease in whoever to take his place. You'd think they wouldn't want him to blam someplace without a scenario in place!

15. Half truths
Edema or swelling in his lower extremities is treated with lasix. Edema in the lower extremities can be a consequence of congestive heart failure(CHF). With Cheney's cardiac history, this is the most likely cause. Congestive heart failure is common after heart attacks. CHF can be a chronic progressive disease. It doesn't mean he is at death's door.

He's deteriorated NOTICEABLY just over the past year or so. I think his CHF is pretty far advanced.

18. He's the Potemkin VP
he's not even real.

It's what my grandmother died from last Aug., although she was older and did not have the heart issues. She was on Lasik, etc. Electrolyte imbalance undid her in the end (sodium out of whack) ChainKnee's number is about up, I say he succumbs to CHF by May.

21. It's also quite amazing how long
someone with congestive heart failure can live. My mother-in-law had it by the time she was 70, and lived to 94. Granted, she wasn't running the country during any of that time, and by the time she was 80 she couldn't walk far without needing to rest. But still, she lived for a quarter century in that condition.

My point being, don't start planning the funeral any time soon.

23. Let's put it this way...
... after all the damned trouble he's caused this country, if he's going out feet first, the least he can do is try to make up for what he's done and stroke out in the middle of Meet the Press on Sunday morning. About a hundred million people in this country would be saying, "didja see that? About damned time--did you have the VCR runnin'?" :)

32. We'll know he's bought it when Fox News shuts off...
...And starts playing patriotic music against a blank screen. That's how the Politburo used to prepare their adoring public for the bad news.

meds conflicting with existing meds.

That having been said, I don't believe ANYTHING this administration tells me, just as a given, so you could be right.

8. Doesn't seem right to me, either
Why give a man with chronic heart problems a drug that could cause water retention? Water retention around the heart is called congestive heart failure and it causes shortness of breath... I went through this for years and years with my grandmother...

Cheney's death won't be announced immediately. The boob tube will just go blank, and they will play doleful music for a day or so to prepare us for the shock.

Some of you may be horribly maimed to keep Unka Dick alive. Some of you may even die a gruesome and painful death just to sustain his life for another five minutes. But that's a risk he's willing to take.

16. Cheney has several personal hospitals: home, AF 2, etc.
This guy has his own medical staff, 24/7, too.
A simple drug reaction wouldn't necessitate
at 3 am trip to a hospital.

27. As a retired nurse, that's the best answer I've heard so far.
They probably did some bloodwork on him at home (I'm sure he's rich and powerful enough to have a lab on site, considering his cardiac history) and found it to be dangerously out of whack. Enough to cause him to make the trip to the hospital.

33. They would want him to die while in office
That way they can have a state of emergency, sympathy from all over the world, lots of broadcast time, big funeral, eulogies, blah blah. So much more effective than if he dies quietly at home AFTER he's been replaced.
