John Kerry in India for Nuke Talks, Weeks Ahead of Bush
Kerry beats Bush to the punch meeting with India's P.M. for nuke talks...

John Kerry in India for Nuke Talks, Weeks Ahead of Bush
January 11th, 2006

Weeks ahead of Bush’s scheduled visit to India, John Kerry met with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss “the ongoing bilateral talks on civilian nuclear cooperation among various facets of bilateral relations.”

The two leaders are also believed to have shared views on various regional and international issues of mutual concern, official sources said.

The regional issues included those related to Pakistan, Afganistan, Nepal and Iran, they said.

Kerry’s visit, “assumes significance as it takes place as the Bush Administration is preparing to approach the American Congress for ratification of the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal signed during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s Washington visit” in July of last year.

2. And notice the respect the Indian press gives him - completely minus the
snark attitude he gets from the corporate media in the US.

5. I remember an article a while back reporting that he was standing up for
some of those who lost money when BCCI closed, saying that the Bank of England, I think it was, should do something to help them. That was Christmastime 2004, when he was supposed to be on vacation. Didn't get much play here, but I saw it in an India online newspaper.

17. In India, Kerry was considered a big hero for exposing BCCI and the
connection to Pakistan's illegal nuclear program and weapons proliferation.

Too bad American media is afraid to talk about BCCI. Guess they don't want to become mysterious suicide statistics.

6. Oh But Kerry doesn't matter...
Edited on Wed Jan-11-06 05:27 PM by Kerry2008
He voted for the immoral and illegal war. Anything he says has no merit. Forget all that stuff about him machoing up and saying he made a mistake. Forget that he's now a tough credit of the Bush administration, and their policies in Iraq or anywhere else.

Who cares if he beat Bush to the punch in India. IRAQ, IRAQ, IRAQ. He's a loser. Skull and bones, skull and bones!!!

:sarcasm:

.....Sorry. Just a few posts here at DU have me fired up, and angry.

John's doing a lot of good. And it's going unrecognized a lot of the times by the DU family. Pity really. He's one of our better fighters, and in my humble opinion one of the finest Senators this country has ever seen.

Good work John. Beating Bush to the punch. heh. Brings back memories doesn't it?

Now onto Afghanistan and Iraq. Lets see what kind of dirt Senator Kerry can dig up from the danger zone. :)

Kudos Kerry.

on the ground without Kerry knowing the facts.

10. Your President was already here.
Wouldn’t it be a hoot if Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said to Bush ” have nothing to discuss with you, I already spoke to your President last week.”

13. That would be hilarious.
Then Bush would say something colossally stupid to Singh, like, "Didn't Jenna get a cab ride from you when she was hammered?"

14. I doubt that Bush could find India on a map!
It will take generations to undue the damage that Bush has done to our nation and the world. It will take an extraordinary person, with experience dealing with foreign cultures and languages, to lead this country out of the mess we are in.

I wish we could change that part of the Constitution so that real good women candidates can run for President, women like Teresa Heinz and Jennifer Granholm.

With Teresa, would John have to give up his Senate seat? (I do like the idea of Teresa far better than Hillary.)

Read the article at the link. They talk about "the two leaders" and how Kerry's visit is important. I get the feeling they kinda like him. Must have to do with BCCI.

20. I know. I cried like somebody died. You know, like those
"I'm fine... I'm fine... I'm NOT fine" moments where you just suddenly out of the blue lose it.

Took me months to stop doing that.

27. I'm not going to talk about what happened after the election
Because that will just make the cold-hearted Freeps who read it smile, and I won't give them that satisfaction.

Well, I'll say this... despite all the other shit that hit us that day, I got more than a few chuckles at the Colorado Republicans who stood around all confused saying "What? We lost the WHOLE Legislature??? Wasn't somebody supposed to be watching that??? How could this happen???"

Then I looked at the Denver Post election results page and saw all the glorious checkmarks next to all those (D)s. 'Twas a thing of beauty, and I look forward to doing it again in 2006 as the pissed-off Dobsonites wonder why they can't win in "their" "red" state.

That's right, Colorado Freeps, I'M laughing at YOU.

(I feel a lot better)

31. More news - from Kerry Press Conference in India
Kerry Voices Support for Indo-US Nuclear Agreement
January 12th, 2006

An Indian news source is reporting on a press conference with John Kerry after his meeting today with Prime Minister Singh, that I posted about earlier today. Kerry is in India holding talks on “wide array of bilateral matters, including the nuclear deal and burgeoning business ties between the two countries,” weeks ahead of Bush, who is scheduled to visit India in February.

NEW DELHI, JAN 12 (PTI)
Implementation of the Indo-US deal on civilian nuclear cooperation will mean grant of nuclear power status to India, influential American Senator and former Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry said here today as he voiced support for the agreement.

Kerry told a press conference here that the deal, with “enormous benefits” bilaterally, cannot be seen only in the context of Indo-US relations but had implications at the global level.
