Sincere question - how many here believe that it is possible to get out
of the mess this country is in through political means?

1. Well, political means IS the more peaceful choice...
I don't think this is a situation in which people will get off their butts to vote let alone throw a rock...yeesh. It also doesn't warrent any other action other than reform. The US rebounded from Reagan, the US can rebound from Bush.

4. The U.S.
rebounded from the CIVIL WAR, so it can rebound from Bush.

I think that is an accurate comparison to the problem we face with this man in the Presidency.

2. I still believe but barely.
probably mostly because I do not have the energy for a civil war.

3. Not me!
The Repulican Revolution (not just W, but starting w/ Reagan) has done unparalleled damage to this country and our democracy and nothing, absolutely nothing, can bring it back. We have placed ourselves on a long spiral towards the bottom. Getting rid of BushCo will only slow our demise! The damage has been done, we will all be left to pay the price (except those fatcats being paid off by Bush who have NO loyalty to this country and will only flee with their money at the first sign of trouble).

6. Getting out of the mess will require
1)overwhelming defeating Republicans at all levels.
2)continuing and perpetual activism and protest to make sure the Democrats who
overwhelmingly defeat those Republicans(assuming point 1 is achieved)actually
GOVERN LIKE DEMOCRATS.
If they don't, then as someone once said "all the old crap will come back".

5. If the media ever gets back to objective reporting and real journalism
we could come back very fast. The main problem I see is that what most people get as political news is propaganda by the right. When people's lives fail to reflect what the media tells them such as the idea that the economy is great, they will begin to demand the truth.

Things critical to me are:

A fair and balanced media,
Honest elections,

10. I don't think so...
The political system is too corrupt. IMO, direct action is needed.
