If we say Negative things about the War then we are committing Treason!
Edited on Wed Jan-11-06 04:17 PM by orleans
at least in BushWorld. here is part of what he said in one of his inane babbles on tuesday to a group of vets

"So I ask all Americans to hold their elected leaders to account, and demand a debate that brings credit to our democracy -- not comfort to our adversaries. "
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/01/20060110-1.html

now why did he use the word comfort? (al frankin was talking about this on his show today)

why comfort? because...

"Article Three defines treason as only levying war against the United States or "in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort," "

www.wikipedia.org

so...if we talk about the war in a way that does not bring "credit to our democracy" -- if we say negative things about the war then according to shrubbie we're committing TREASON!!

what is the penalty for committing treason (er...i mean comforting our adversaries) hummm..

3. bush is the traitor not me. I will say as much as I want about
his invasion and occupation and killing of many innocents, including soldiers and marines. My step daughter and her husband were there. I have every right.

Give me liberty or give me death.

4. I don't know but this war is being run to line the pockets of the rich
at the expense of the poor. Brush attacked Iraq because he was too afraid of the real murders at 9/11 - the Saudis. So prosecute me for treason brush. I think your war is a ruse to make money for your rich pals. I spent twenty years in the military fighting when brush was too afraid to join the fight. Now he's going to tell me I'm giving comfort to the enemy because I dare disagree with his royal opinion. Go take a flying leap you coward, crazy king george.

6. Consider the audience
Besides, treason has never been declared against someone(Hope that sentence makes sense) for simple speech, no matter how vile. Comfort has been interpreted, in regards to treason, to be something tangile, akin to information or aid.

I don't want people to think that they can't critique the government, out of fear of reprisal. We'er not there yet. Like I said above, consider the audience. And the fact that he used the word comfort, it has different contexts. Words and speech are not treason, never have been(unless it words about top secret info you're privy too).

I think Franken was egging the audience on here.
