"So tired of aid and comfort to the enemy

To the editor:

I'm so tired of reading articles from the frequent writers to The People's Forum bashing President Bush for everything that goes on in the world today.
I would like to make a few points for our side. What ever happened to patriotism? There was a time in this country when we were at war when our people united behind our President 100 percent. It didn't matter if he was a Democrat or Republican, we were all in it together. Fighting amongst ourselves only gives aid and comfort to the enemy and encourages them to continue because they think we are weakening in our resolve.

Let's review a few facts. The Congress of the United States voted almost unanimously to go to war against Iraq because they were a threat to our country. President Bush provided them with the information he had and they approved it. Congress did not stipulate that it was only because they believed he had WMD. Fact is that they had already used weapons of mass destruction on our country. Terrorists took our airplanes loaded with our people and crashed them into our buildings killing over 3,000 people on 9/11.

If that isn't mass destruction, what is? Saddam Hussein harbored and trained terrorists in his country and even paid them to kill American citizens. The fact that WMD's were not found in Iraq gave the Democrats an excuse to claim they were misled when they were just trying to get a political edge. First it was the Iraq war then it was the torture scandal. They claimed we were torturing prisoners and the media, of course, jumped on that. Let's see! We made them sit naked on the floor, blindfolded them, made them listen to loud music in excessive temperatures. Big deal! They hung some of our captives on light poles, burned their bodies, tied them to vehicles and dragged them through the streets and allowed children to poke their burnt bodies with sticks, not to mention, cut their heads off. Maybe they would prefer that. This is not a game of tiddlywinks, it's war.

Now that the Democrats and media have worn that out, they now have a new scandal (so-called) - the wire tap scandal. President Bush is sworn to protect the U.S. against all enemies and in times of war, that is exactly what he is doing. Doing whatever it takes to keep us safe.

I say that these terrorists who are in our country for the sole purpose of doing us harm do not have or deserve rights. They forfeited them when they declared their "Jihad" against our country.

If you are ever in a life or death struggle to protect one of your family members or yourself, see if you're concerned about fighting fair.

Finally, I hate to think of where we would be right now if after 9/11, we hadn't had George Bush, but instead, one of the last two presidents the Democrats had to offer. Carter and Clinton.

I say thank God for George Bush, a man of integrity, courage and determination to see us through this.

God bless our President and God bless America.

1. Well, what he "reviwed" aren't FACTS by any stretch of the imagination
I agree, it's maddening, but why in the world did the paper even publish it?

I would write a polite point by point retraction of his facts, and send it to the paper.

Report on Global Terror that was handed to him on Jan 30, 2001, and refused to implement its urgent proposals for Homeland Security.

That damn Clinton or Gore would have read the report and implemented its safeguards and this nation would never have known how abject fear could frighten so many of us into accepting the fascist agenda.

8. Congress did NOT vote to go to war with Iraq.
They voted to give the bush the right to use force, IF necessary. BIG "IF" THERE!

This is some 85 year old WWII veteran who still believes that the country is the same as it was back when he was fighting "the big one". He doesn't believe that a president of the United States could be a liar and a thief. Well, a Republican president anyway. I'm sure he was all over "slick willy clintoon" every time the chance arose.

There's assholes like this in every city, town and village in the country. They refuse to believe that the United States could be wrong about anything, that whatever the (republican) President does is best for the country. In other words, totally out of touch with reality.

One of Roland Fontaine's problems is he has his facts all WRONG.

The vote wasn't "almost unanimous" -- nearly half of the Democrats voted against the IWR.

President Bush did NOT provide Congress and the American people with the information he had. Instead, the president and his neocons cherry-picked information that supported their case, exaggerated it, and witheld information that cast serious doubts on their case.

And "they" -- the Iraqis -- did NOT fly airplanes into buildings. Every official investigation has concluded there is no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11 or plots with Islamic terrorists.

The problem with Mr. Fontaine -- as it is with most Bush supporters -- is that they have been badly misinformed ... ON PURPOSE.

15. Oh how I just love these!
To the editor:

"I'm so tired of reading articles from the frequent writers to The People's Forum bashing President Bush for everything that goes on in the world today."

Take a look around you dude, they're not the only ones. You're surrounded.

"What ever happened to patriotism? There was a time in this country when we were at war when our people united behind our President 100 percent."

Until he lied his way into Iraq.

"It didn't matter if he was a Democrat or Republican, we were all in it together."

Since when? Ever since 911, liberals, democrats and anyone with any common sense and decency was isolated, marginalized and ostracized.

"Fighting amongst ourselves only gives aid and comfort to the enemy and encourages them to continue because they think we are weakening in our resolve."

Actually they're getting a lot of encouragement from the way the U.S. Soldiers are getting killed without the benefit of body armor.

"Let's review a few facts. The Congress of the United States voted almost unanimously to go to war against Iraq because they were a threat to our country."

Unfortunately the threat still exists but its only grown BECAUSE of Iraq.

"President Bush provided them with the information he had"

Actually everyone knows he lied.

"and they approved it. Congress did not stipulate that it was only because they believed he had WMD."

Try going over the transcript from that infamous State of the Union speech.

"Fact is that they"

"Fact is that they had already used weapons of mass destruction on our country. Terrorists took our airplanes loaded with our people and crashed them into our buildings killing over 3,000 people on 9/11.

"they" as in "Saudis"? Not one person on any of any of those planes was an Iraqi.

"If that isn't mass destruction, what is? Saddam Hussein harbored and trained terrorists in his country and even paid them to kill American citizens."

Meanwhile we had done the same with flight schools in Florida.

"The fact that WMD's were not found in Iraq gave the Democrats an excuse to claim they were misled when they were just trying to get a political edge."

Uh...that was the only point Bush had ever made. If you want to argue about the political edge, just look at what would have happened at the time if they voted against the package. Unfortunately more of them were looking for that edge by voting for the Iraq Resolution.

"First it was the Iraq war then it was the torture scandal. They claimed we were torturing prisoners and the media, of course, jumped on that."

Its not like anyone like Lyddie Englund was convicted of spying, oh no!

"Let's see! We made them sit naked on the floor, blindfolded them, made them listen to loud music in excessive temperatures."

And force fed them ham, burned their Koran, put them in human pyramids, raped their children, etc.

"Big deal! They hung some of our captives on light poles, burned their bodies, tied them to vehicles and dragged them through the streets and allowed children to poke their burnt bodies with sticks, not to mention, cut their heads off."

Those were mercenaries who weren't exactly the kind of people you would care to know in real life. Paul Bremer never delivered the promised measures of retaliation for it either.

"Maybe they would prefer that. This is not a game of tiddlywinks, it's war."

Yeah true, but Bush would like to consider war more like pro-wrestling.

"Now that the Democrats and media have worn that out, they now have a new scandal (so-called) - the wire tap scandal."

That's funny because a growing number of republicans have that scandal too.

"President Bush is sworn to protect the U.S. against all enemies and in times of war, that is exactly what he is doing. Doing whatever it takes to keep us safe."

Yes, yes, and we feel so much safer with everyone getting blown to bits over there.

"I say that these terrorists who are in our country for the sole purpose of doing us harm do not have or deserve rights."

They don't care about any of that anyway. What's his point on that?

"They forfeited them when they declared their "Jihad" against our country. If you are ever in a life or death struggle to protect one of your family members or yourself, see if you're concerned about fighting fair."

That's interesting because that's exactly the situation that terrorists see themselves in. Thanks for pointing that out.

"Finally, I hate to think of where we would be right now if after 9/11, we hadn't had George Bush,"

Bush was responsible for 911. Nuff said.

"but instead, one of the last two presidents the Democrats had to offer. Carter and Clinton."

Don't leave out Ronald Reagan now. He let terrorists blow up the Marine Barracks that left 40 of them dead.

"I say thank God for George Bush,"

Others would look at him as devine punishment.

"a man of integrity, courage and determination to see us through this."

The guy can't even see through his whiskey glass.

"God bless our President and God bless America."

God help us all and deliver us from this a-moral madman.

Probably much like WW2, back in '72, a tour of duty was a good for cure a war-happy fool. Do you know why? It seems to me the ones screaming loudest for combat aren't headed in that direction, never served and see no possibility that their kids will get drafted. I say the fuckers that want to taste blood need to lead a charge or two. Do you know why?

I'll just sign this as a Vietnam Vet.

Anyone care to update these tyrics?

Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way down yonder in Vietnam
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on generals, let's move fast;
Your big chance has come at last.
Gotta go out and get those reds —
The only good commie is the one who's dead
And you know that peace can only be won
When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Huh!

Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow,
Why man, this is war au-go-go.
There's plenty good money to be made
By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,
Just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb,
They drop it on the Viet Cong.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on mothers throughout the land,
Pack your boys off to Vietnam.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate,
Send 'em off before it's too late.
Be the first one on your block
To have your boy come home in a box.

And it's one, two, three
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

any of you young-uns ever heard that one sung?
