THE ONLY TIME I WOULD EVER VOTE REPUBLICAN
If this candidate found here:

http://www.opednews.com/articles/genera_dennis_m_060103_one_vermont_republic.htm

was running against a Democrat not actively calling for impeachment, I SWEAR THAT IF I WERE A VERMONT RESIDENT I WOULD VOTE REPUBLICAN!!!!

4. Well, this Republican candidate does say this...
"I consider the Bush Administration to be both CRIMINAL AND TOTALITARIAN and I HAVE BEEN SAYING SO FOR MONTHS."

Only a very few DEMOCRATS have been saying this, too chicken to do what's right for fear of scaring off moderates. I would rather vote for a Republican seeking to rid the nation of the wickedness of Cheney et al than for a Democrat unwilling to rock the boat.

2. Isn't Bush in the 20's in Vermont?
Strange, seeing how this used to be one of the most Republican states in the nation: it voted 4 times against FDR.

3. I couldn't vote for a republican ever again.
At one time I did, for a friend running for a very minor position in my town.

But a lot has changed since then........and I will never vote for anyone with an (R) next to their name. (R) signifies utter disregard for the average American.

5. I VOTED FOR ONLY 2 REPUKES
1 was Ron Packard when he ran as a write in beause he was my dentist, i didnt vote for him the next 8 times though, and when i moved to PA in 1996 I voted for my Uncle for Congress and reelection twice, Ive since moved to NC where i have the thrill of NOT voting for Howard Coble (although he did proclaim TV NAtion day for Michael Moore years ago). Where i work there are several quotes that work, one is that its not that im so LIBERAL (im moderately liberal) its just that YOU ALL are reactionary. The other is when the ask "is there any republicans you do LIKE"? and i say its not that i dont like republicans its the right wingers i cant stand!!! My dad is an old style republican, god i never thought i would pine away for a sensible opposition but i do.

6. Vermont has two viable progressive candidates for congress
Edited on Wed Jan-11-06 11:38 PM by Douglas Carpenter
I would take a look at them before voting Republicans:

State Senator Peter Welch (Democrat) - link:

http://www.welchforcongress.com/

State Representative David Zuckerman (Vermont Progressive Party) link:

http://www.zuckermanforcongress.com/

The current U.S. Representative Bernie Sanders (Independent/Socialist) is running for the U.S. Senate and has a commanding lead in all polls. He also has the endorsement of the DNC Chair and pledges to caucus with the Democrats in the Senate as he has done in the house. Bernie is supporting Welch the Democrat for Congress--link:

No wonder Mr.Morrisseau has to REALLY separate himself from George W. and the GOP

7. I would NEVER vote for a Republican.
Some people here in California disregarded their instincts and common sense and voted Schwarzenegger in, now only to regret it.

10. It's a good start
but I'd need a lot of other reasons. Any ethical or sane Republican should be calling for Impeachment.

you lived somewhere so republican that a democrat wouldn't even run? Would you not vote, or vote for the more moderate republican, or write in someone, or run yourself?

17. I would never vote Republican, Even if he wants Impeachment....
Sure, he wants impeachment, but will he march lock-step with the repugs on every other issue? What does impeachment get us if we have all of our other rights and freedoms stripped away?

21. Congress's First Order of Business: IMPEACHMENT!!!!
"The first order of business for the 110th Congress will be to prepare Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney" -- from candidate Dennis Morisseau's website.

Those of you who argue that though Mr. Morisseau demands impeachment, if elected he would seek to implement destructive policies, I ask you, have you visited his website?? He seems to be consistently anti-war throughout his life, and has supported both McGovern and Eugene McCarthy. Perhaps he is running as a Republican simply because he feels it's difficult for him to push his candidacy forward as a Democrat, given the Democrats already running.

One of the lessons from the Watergate era is that in doing political damage to the leader of a (Republican) party, one inevitably weakens all Congressional candidates of that party, that is to say, in going after Nixon, Democratic leaders undermined the viability of many Republican candidates, and consequently, both 1974 and 1976 were good years for the Democrats. A Republican congressman seeking impeachment against Bush (when so few Democrats are doing this) IS ACTUALLY HELPING TO MAKE 2008 BRIGHT FOR THE DEMOCRATS.

Such a Congressman could work with Congressman Conyers to bring about a "bipartisan" effort at impeachment. Yes, impeachment would still remain unlikely, but the more voices that call for impeachment, the worse Bush will appear, and the less likely that a disaster like Bush will happen in the future.

What about the Democrats running for this congressional seat? Alas, I fear that unless they actively call for Bush's impeachment, they shall merely seek (if elected) to try to present better arguments regarding policy than the Republicans, but this strategy does not UNDERMINE the Republicans, who will be seen as merely having a different point of view. A strong and persistent call for Bush's impeachment (which seems to be the centerpiece of Mr. Morisseau's campaign), on the other hand, will help heighten the public's perception that the Republican party leaves a terrible taste in the mouth.

I disagree with the person who wrote that Bush is the Republican's responsibility and so presumably it is up to only the Republicans to get rid of Bush. I feel that it is the responsibility of all adults to seek his removal and to try to ensure that a presidency such as his never happens again. The people at www.sorryeverybody.com evidently feel the same way I do, as does Mr. Morisseau.
