Anyone active in the DFA? |

A very dear friend, who holds public office told me I might look into Democracy For America and I just joined. It looks to me like another good way to give those Repuke fools hell! My friend said they've been quite effective in many areas. What do you guys think of them?

1. Depends on your local DFA chapter. |
|
The one I'm in managed to wind up with a lot of hardworking activists. We've trained over 90 precinct chairs in our town and also we have brought a TON of candidates to town to visit. Some chapters work hard, some not.

3. there's only 9 members in B'ham... |

It's really red down here and there's no chapter in my university town of about 100,000 locals and a bunch more students... We're honored with a 30% black population and those students can be pretty liberal. These Bible-thumpin red-necks are a big issue but what do you think? How can I start a chapter here?

6. Same way you start anything else. |
|
Use meetup.com and/or DFALink to get the word out on the internet and as an organizing tool, but you'll also need to take it to the streets -- anywhere there are likely Democrats, take flyers, get the word out, run ads in the local paper, etcetera etcetera. Go for it! :hi:

2. Very active DFA in the Temecula Valley out here in SoCal! |
|
We actually backed a couple of school board candidates, who, by coincidence, won!!!
So sorry to say that the extreme rightwing religious anti-gay zealot lost!! (HeeHee. O.K., sarcasm off now).
Seriously, we are making a good impact. We are writing letters to the editor, and getting them published. We are meeting with a county supervisor re our concerns about the voting process and the machines (at the very least, the registrar is having to answer lots of questions).

7. You can start your own group where you live at DFA Link. |
|
http://www.blogforamerica.com/archives/007376.htmlChoose DFA Link from the right. This is the blog for the message board. There is a great post today by Jim Dean, and some other activities of the various DFAs
