that Bush and his lawyers have argued that they have the authority to delare war on Iran without telling Congress. That should be alarming enough. He DID say to Couric "How would you react, and I don't expect you to answer, if the administration said 'we have the authority to declare war on Iran tomorrow and not tell Congress?"
The "tomorrow" part was hypothetical. War authority & Iran... not so hypothetical.

9. I get "it" now... (1) Start unnecessary and endless "war"....

(2)Use the "we are at war" meme to enable unconstitutional acts and massive Executive-Branch power-grab.
(3)Use info gleaned through "unconstitutional acts" to intimidate and frighten Media and "Opposition Party".
(4)Use intimidation to thwart challenges to install right-wing ideologues and corrupt toadies on the Supreme Court.
(5)Begin striking "pre-emptively" perceived enemies (oil-producing, ideally);WWIII is now ON!
(6)Use the fact that WWIII is now ON!!! as a basis to declare 22nd Amendment "temporarily suspended"; crony-packed SCOTUS concurs.
(7)Begin rounding up "subversives"/"enemy combatants" (Democrats and other non-compliants), place in "re-education camps" for their "own protection" for the "duration" of the "war" (infinity).
(8)Have "Congress" declare you "President" for life, and proceed to destroy the World to facilitate the Coming of the Rapture.
