"World of Crap" take on shrubs speech yesterday.
Pretty good, I really like the part where the author notes that since dropping "Armstrong Williams from the goverment pay roll -- the administration has to do its own pandering"....Classic!!
Splat!

'George W. Bush is Churchill's heir in our century'

Thanks to John "Ultimate Wingnut of 2005" Hindrocket, I learned that the President held another one of his Town Bubble meetings yesterday, and he did an unbelievably super-fantastic neato job (as usual).

President Bush did a town hall-type appearance in Louisville, Kentucky today. He was unbelievably good, as was the audience. You can read it all here. Please, please do. Here are a few excerpts, but they can't begin to capture the sincerity and the compelling logic that President Bush put forward.

I guess John thinks that when George says stuff like that Prohibition was when "we illegalized whisky," that shows sincerity. The "compelling logic" seemed to boil down to, "We're at war, I'm the President, and I'm the only one who can keep you from being murdered while you sleep -- so screw FISA, because you're my bitches now."

Back to John (emphasis added by me):

And I loved this question by a small business owner:

Q Hello, Mr. President. You just made a very poignant -- about math and science. I am a -- number one, I'd like to thank you for taking time to be here. I think all of us would reiterate that. I am a business owner and I am living the American Dream, and I would like to personally thank you for having a will that will not be broken. And the men and women of the armed forces that protect the freedoms that we have had and that we oftentimes take for granted and give us this way of life.

Yeah, I can see why you would love that bit, Mr. "The President is a man of extraordinary vision and brilliance approaching to genius." But it wasn't exactly a question (even in the Jeff Gannon sense).

The question followed.

Oh, right. And you loved it so much that you didn't bother to quote it. (BTW, the answer to it was "community college.")

Anyway, Mr. Hindrocket inspire me to skim through the President's remarks. Here are a few of my favorite bits:

1. What an idiot...
I read the White House transcript, just to make sure the blogger wasn't "embellishing". He wasn't. This man is a total embarrassment to anyone with brains.

And I can't even bring myself to talk about his "illegalized whisky" remark.

"...We've got to have kids that are the best in science and engineering and math, otherwise jobs are going to go to where the workforce is that have got those skills. And that's the real challenge facing. Fantastic question. Thanks. I'm pandering, I know, but it is really one of the most important challenges we face."

pan·der Pronunciation Key (pndr)
intr.v. pan·dered, pan·der·ing, pan·ders

1.To act as a go-between or liaison in sexual intrigues; function as a procurer.
2. To cater to the lower tastes and desires of others or exploit their weaknesses: “He refused to pander to nostalgia and escapism” (New York Times).
