The Repubs are saying they want a new leadership election when they return on Feb 2nd. It is my understanding that when elections are held for new leadership, the whole House is open to the election and usually the Party with the most votes wins the Majority Leader and the Speaker positions, but the minority can also be in the running although they never win. Is that true? If John Behner or Roy Blunt were running against Nancy Pelosi, could either of them win? Or would they have a run-off between the Repubs and then have an election for the new Majority Leader? Does anyone know how this would work?

2. I believe that only applies to the Speaker position... |
|
As that is a constitutionally defined position...
