Did Alabama Governor Riley Plagiarize President Clinton?
In Riley's speech to the Legislature Tuesday night, he said, "Tonight we have the most dynamic, the most competitive job-creating economy in the history of this state."

Clinton, in his 1999 State of the Union speech, said, "Today America is the most dynamic, competitive, job-creating economy in history," according to a transcript of the speech.

The State of the State speech by the Republican governor also included the lines: "Alabama's success was not a matter of chance. It was a matter of choice."

A transcript of Clinton's speech to the 2000 Democratic National Convention contains the lines: "America's success was not a matter of chance. It was a matter of choice."

The article goes on... a Riley staffer implies the "similarities" were coincidental, but a Poly-Sci professor at an Alabama college seems skeptical.

1. and we used to have such a great Governor down here

From 1999 to 2003: Governor Don Siegelman is noted for his work in improving education, children’s services, economic development and promoting anticrime initiatives including drunk driving and domestic violence prevention. Governor Siegelman is committed to changing education in Alabama for the better and changing education forever.

In his state of the state address Riely said something to the effect that as his first act of Gov. he asked everyone in alabama to pray... I really didn't hear that first part well because everyone in the room was laughing. I said, "yeah and we all better pray ALOT more if that idiot gets back in office." Don't worry guys I'm on this one. This Monday I'm meeting with th statewide chair to elect Siegelman.

If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day

If you TEACH him to fish you feed him for a lifetime

If you teach a man to pray, he'll starve to death while praying for a fish.

2. not to mention Jim Folsom Jr.
I thought he had the potential to be a truly great governor. I was totally shocked when he was defeated by Fob James. I just couldn't believe it.

3. I can't believe this Riley guy being so clumsy and down right
obvious. What are the odds on this being coincidental? And it well could be!

5. I guess it's not his fault really
I think he's a decent individual, but he's surrounded by GOP hacks. And I'm voting for him in the the Repub primary. :)

(Will vote for Lucy or Don in November.)

4. The communications director....
....is such a liar!! ANY speechwriter who DOESN'T read Clinton speeches...many which he wrote himself...isn't worth his weight in GOP HORSESHIT!

OF COURSE, he stole (borrowed, whatever) the lines. Because OTHERWISE he would have to be as smart as BILL CLINTON....now what are the chances of THAT?
