The High Cost Of Greed

Director Alex Gibney's eye-opening documentary on the fall of Enron provides a shocking look at one of the biggest corporate scandals in American business history.

The film, adapted from a best-selling book, offers insider accounts of misdeeds within what was one of the largest corporations in the country.


A highlight of the film -- and perhaps the biggest blood-boiler of them all -- is how Gibney juxtaposes the tragedy of a doomed company and its 20,000 employees with the blind ambition and greed of executives Kenneth L. Lay and Jeffrey K. Skilling.

Viewers also see the effect of Enron's influence on major accounting firms, California politics and even the presidency.

1. Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room - I have been waiting for this dvd
for a long time. Looks like next week is going to be a good one for video, what with Monday Al Gore on Cspan and Tuesday my video store should have this dvd waiting for me (yea, I've been bugging them).

3. I hadn't heard of this until Emma Thompson named it her best film of 2005
